Great post and information as always @itchykitten Whilst reading your explanation of the Gunwinggu peoples ceremonial barter system I couldn't help thinking of the mating rituals carried out by the bird of paradise! :) It's interesting to me how these ceremonies occur within both human and many animal populations. In terms of a gift economy I can really see and appreciate the beauty in this. The interaction, dependency and respect that this builds within entire communities must be a beautiful thing to behold. In many ways our monetary system insulates us from these interactions and causes people to look inwards and become greedy, thus slowy eroding a cohesive community structure. Great work!
