Kiwi nostalgia: gone and almost forgotten (3)

Random Bits

Womble Stickers

I remember collecting these and putting them on my lunchbox too. My lunchbox lid was pretty crowded by this time. They were extra-cool because they were puffy.

Golden Kiwi Tickets

I remember my Nana winning some small prizes. Tickets were bought regular as clockwork, and newspapers scanned for results.

Tom Thumbs fireworks crackers

Yep, I knew one kid in school who had held onto one too long and lost fingers.

Cereal Toys

I still have some of mine. It was a very sad day when they stopped putting decent toys in the cereal.

Rinso
(Robert S. Hudson/Unilever)

According to its Wikipedia page, it was "one of the first mass-marketed soap powders".
I remember my Mum using it to wash the clothes in our old wringer washing machine. Fun times.
Trivia: look at this photograph!

Wringer Washing Machine

What damage those rollers could do!

Twin Tub Washing Machine
(Hoovermatic)

I don't think I'll ever forget the smell of the rubber hoses when hot water was put through them, or the noise & vibration of the spinner! But what a step up from the wringer they were (even if you couldn't set & forget them).

Weetbix Collectible Trading Cards
(Sanitarium)

We had quite a few books & trading cards on various themes growing up.

Magnetic Spinning Wheel Top
(Maggie)

Who couldn't fail to be entertained for hours by a toy like this? :P I laugh, but it was true for so many simple toys (as we see them now), but they helped fire our imaginations because we had to be so inventive with our games.

The ABBA bubblegum trading cards

As I saw this picture after I'd posted about this very thing (see here) I just had to sneak them in! Seeing them it is like the 70s were only yesterday. :D
