The structure of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque is like the Kaaba of Mecca Sharif

History
Abdul Latif Ibrahim Bawani first published a plan to build a grand mosque with huge capacity in Dhaka. In 1959, initiatives were taken to implement this plan by forming 'Baitul Mukarram Mosque Society'. The place for the mosque was acquired at the meeting place of Old Dhaka and New Dhaka. The place was also close to the city's main commercial center. The famous architect T. Abdul Hussein Tharini was appointed to design the mosque complex. Complex complexes include shops, offices, libraries and parking. Later, construction of this mosque began on 27 January 1960. In this mosque, 40 thousand devotees can pray together. The main chamber of the mosque is surrounded by three verandahs. The rectangle of the mihrab is half-circular. Less decoration in modern architecture is a feature-noted in this mosque. The mosque is a separate place in the heart of the Muslims, because its appearance is very similar to that of holy Ka'ba Sharif
