I would have never thought to really question the hats and guns but I guess it makes sense to use something that got associated with the west even if it was not accurate!

Yes sir and both the later model Colt 45 and the cowboy hats have a cool, sleek look to them which is very important to Hollywood, or at least used to be. They're alot more realistic these days in some films but they still use old sterotypes that are wrong. I'll bust a few more of them.
