Every civilization has their own interpretation of heaven and hell concepts. Angkor wat is the largest Hindu temple complex in the world built by Khmer Empire ruler the god king Suryavarman II at 12 century. The temples mainly built using massive sandstone bricks where the walls are carved bas Reliefs of Hindu mythologies such as heaven and hell concept and the punishment for sinners.
Eighteen armed Yama, the King of the dead or underworld, is seated upon his buffalo at the entrance to Hell, where he judges the newly deceased. His one arm pointing at Chitragupta, his assistant to check the records of the doings of the deceased.
Judgement day. Decision making in progress on those who enter heaven and those who thrown to hell for punishment

The sinners are tied around the neck with a rope and dragged for punishments while some get beaten by Giants
Some sinners beg for mercy.. :(
For an unspecified sins which victims are hung on frames while demons hammer nails into their bodies
Sinners are burned in hellfire.. :(

Didn't they recently discover a buried treasure worth billions in gold in one of the locked rooms? Maybe I'm thinking of another wat, but I think this happened recently.

No Xmass, it was in southern state of India (Kerala). The temple was called Padmanatha Swamy temple and out of six secret chamber , 5 already opened and the treasures are secured. But the last chamber remained closed and nobody know what lies behind those door after the supreme court order to halt the excavation.
