Say hello to CSIRAC!

in #history8 years ago

From Wikipedia :- "CSIRAC (/ˈsaɪræk/; Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Automatic Computer), originally known as CSIR Mk 1, was Australia's first digital computer, and the fifth stored program computer in the world.[1] It is the oldest surviving first-generation electronic computer[2] (The Zuse Z4 at the Deutsches Museum is older, but was electro-mechanical, not electronic), and was one of the first in the world to play digital music."

This gem is in the Melbourne Museum in Victoria, Australia. If you're in the area swing by and have a look. You don't even have to pay to get in to see it, as it's near the entrance from the car park.

Enjoy :D
