In August, 1915 battalions of the Norfolk regiment took part in offensive at the village of Anafarta (Turkey). On the way soldiers have entered "a strange cloud of fog" and when it has dissipated, 267 people have just disappeared.
In 1918, after defeat of Turkey Great Britain has demanded to return a regiment which was considered as captivated. Turkey has answered that their soldiers not only didn't take prisoner the Norfolk regiment, but weren't even involved in fights with him.
Soldiers eyewitnesses describe a cloud in which soldiers were gone as "similar in a form on loaf of bread, not changing a form, despite wind". Witnesses described several such clouds which have dissipated after the Norfolk regiment has got to them.
