Greetings, my dear food loving friends. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you, I hope you are very well, in good health and well being, and that we can celebrate this special day of Love and Friendship.
Early in the morning, my husband and I started celebrating love and friendship with a special breakfast at Mil Delicias, that cozy little place we have frequented since we arrived in Bogota. We love its warm and familiar atmosphere, but today we found it transformed. The remodeling gave it an even more charming air, with a wall of mugs that immediately captured my attention, all of them beautiful! Also, I was struck by the central tree that decorates and shelters the tables of this bakery cafe. I couldn't help but think, once again, of the chestnut tree in One Hundred Years of Solitude. It seemed to me a powerful nod to the encounters that are repeated over time. It made me smile, because we were precisely there celebrating what is constant in our lives: everyday love.
Saludos, mis queridos amigos amantes de la comida. Feliz Día de San Valentín para todos, espero que estén muy bien, con salud y bienestar, y que podamos celebrar este día especial del Amor y la Amistad.
Desde muy temprano, mi esposo y yo comenzamos a celebrar el amor y la amistad con un desayuno especial en Mil Delicias, ese rinconcito acogedor que hemos frecuentado desde que llegamos a Bogotá. Nos encanta su ambiente cálido y familiar, pero hoy lo encontramos transformado. La remodelación le dio un aire aún más encantador, con una pared de tazas que capturó mi atención de inmediato. ¡Todas hermosas! También, me sorprendió el árbol central que decora y cobija las mesas de esta panadería café. No pude evitar pensar, una vez más, en el castaño de Cien años de soledad. Me pareció un guiño poderoso a los encuentros que se repiten con el paso del tiempo. Me hizo sonreír, porque precisamente estábamos ahí celebrando lo que es constante en nuestra vida: el amor de todos los días.
Breakfast was a delight. Three tortillas filled with ham and cheese, served with fresh fruit, and a frothy latte that enveloped us with its aroma and flavor. That first sip, on this cold morning, was like a warm hug, the same one we give each other every morning, regardless of the date on the calendar.
Today, the most important thing is how we started our celebration: with a shared table, as always with good humor and laughter, complicit glances and the deep pleasure of being together. Because true love is not measured with expensive gifts nor is it reserved for just one day a year, but is woven in the everyday, in every little detail we give, in every shared breakfast, in every conversation and in every embrace that brings us even closer.
On this special day we applaud every moment of conscious love, of gratitude for what we have and celebration for what we build every day.

El desayuno fue una delicia. Tres tortillas rellenas de jamón y queso, servidas con fruta fresca, y un café con leche espumoso que nos envolvió con su aroma y sabor. Ese primer sorbo, en esta fría mañana, fue como un abrazo cálido, el mismo que nos damos cada mañana, sin importar la fecha en el calendario.
Hoy, lo más importante es cómo comenzamos nuestra celebración: con una mesa compartida, como siempre con buen humor y risas, miradas cómplices y el profundo placer de estar juntos. Porque el amor verdadero no se mide con regalos costosos ni se reserva para un solo día al año, sino que se teje en lo cotidiano, en cada pequeño detalle que damos, en cada desayuno compartido, en cada conversación y en cada abrazo que nos acerca aún más.
En este día especial aplaudimos cada instante de amor consciente, de gratitud por lo que tenemos y de celebración por lo que construimos cada día.
