Hello everyone, welcome to my blog.
As it's a known culture in Nigeria, particularly amongst Yoruba people, after the demise of a loved one the responsiblies does not stop immediately after the funeral.
One is expected to carry out some traditions like frying akara on the fourth first day after the burial and sharing it ro people in need or people in iur neighborhood
Meanwhile, akara can be eaten as snacks,or food. It can be eaten as breakfast, lunch or dinner and can akso be eaten alone or combine with gari (casava flakes), bread, ogi or eko (pap).
It was fourth first day after the burial one a mother figure in my life and i thought it will be good to fry akara for people around in her remembrance.
I got and washed my beans soak it for one hour then added chilly pepper and onion before taking it for grinding at the mill.
After grinding, i turned and portion it for frying in hot vegetable oil for about ten to fifteen minutes before taking it out of the oil and serving it to people around.
The akara got ready around 1pm so i am sure a lot of people that wes gifted with it will combine it with another food for lunch or snack on it.
It was a sunny afternoon so my children and i enjoyed our akara with gari with cold water. (Nigerian can relate.).
All images are mine.
Thanks for reading till the end.
