Homemade Cakes: My Father’s New Passion

in Hive Food19 hours ago

The weather these days is quite strange. It’s hard to tell if it’s hot or cold, and because of this, many people are getting sick. This kind of weather also affects our mood—making us irritated, angry, and uninterested in things. But my father has a solution for everything! He always finds new ways to cheer us up. Just this morning, he made such delicious French toast for breakfast that it completely lifted my mood.

Now, coming to the main topic of this post—cakes made by my father! Yes, my father is always experimenting with new things. He doesn’t like sitting idle, so he keeps himself busy with different activities. In the summer, he started making homemade ice cream in different styles, and now that winter came, he switched to cakes. The interesting part is that he bakes them without an oven—using a big pot on the stove!

The saying "Practice makes a man perfect" is absolutely true, and my father has proven it. Around 7-8 months ago, he suddenly got the idea to bake a cake on the stove. He made a simple bakery-style cake, which, despite its basic shape, tasted amazing. We praised him a lot, and that encouraged him even more. Soon, he started making cakes almost every day!

Over time, his simple cake turned into a decorated and fancy cake. Every day, he tried something new, improving his baking skills. He even started bringing different toppings for decoration, getting more and more involved in the process. For us, it was a treat—we got to eat delicious cakes in various flavors and styles. Sometimes heart-shaped, sometimes as pastries, and now we don’t even need to buy cakes for birthdays anymore. When homemade cakes are this good, why order from outside?

My father has truly mastered cake-making! I even jokingly told him to start taking orders or put his cakes online. But he doesn’t bake on anyone’s request, and I also don’t want him to get too busy with orders. Baking for the family is fine, but beyond that, it’s not necessary.

You must have seen the pictures of these cakes—each one better than the other! The heart-shaped ones look especially amazing. My sister-in-law helps with decorating, as she’s really skilled at writing and designing on cakes. Personally, I love all of them, but my absolute favorite is the chocolate cake!

Now that the weather is getting warmer, cake-making has slowed down a bit. And with Ramadan coming soon, I think the ice cream phase will return. I’ll definitely share this year’s ice cream experience. I forgot to post about last year’s, but this time, I won’t miss it!

All these pictures were taken by me using my and my father's cell phones.
