The chocolate cake: The pictures are from my personal gallery and are my own cakes.
Let me tell you about a little bakery I formed a couple of years ago. I lived in a nice community back then and there was a little shop where we could get products for daily consumption.
I noticed how there was no good bread, or any cake and decided to test my products out. I talked to the shopkeeper who was also a good friend and decided to build a pretty snug little shelf where I would stack up on nice homemade treats using healthy ingredients.
It was exciting to be honest. I designed a simple logo for it and talked to a packaging company to send over minimalist boxes and stickers.
I would bake soft scrumptious bread. I had milk bread, normal one, and multi grain bread. People loved it. But they complained it was pricey.
I just found out people preferred the bread made in factories with lots of preservatives (they even had smaller sizes) over taste and healthy ingredients. I discontinued it.
The carrot cake.
I decided to continue with my carrot cake, chocolate cake, and banana bread. Everyone loved those with tea and coffee, and were a great hit in the winters.
However, a single mother came to our community and started a silent campaign against my products. It was because she wanted to do it herself. She would mostly cook meals, and was not into baking. But she seeped through all the women in the community using Whatsapp groups and even now I dont know what exactly she did to ruin my little venture.
My so called friend was also involved. I always told her to add me to the groups so I would make friends. But she didnt. She added the other woman who got a clear ground to launch a smear campaignn.
My friend never told me, and the funny thing was she never got a cake or a bread from me. She would just ignore and pretend like I didnt have a little business.
I just learned how naive and careless I am. How easily I can be manipulated and used. I have never harmed anyone, but myself. And maybe that is the biggest injustice I have ever done. Not standing up for myself.
Do you have any similar story where you let other people ruin things for you just because you were too afraid to stand up for yourself? Please share with me. I have always learned the hard way that the people closest to you will be the first to drag you down. And the sad part? I have not learned my lesson. lol
