Namaste to all food lovers!
Now, I couldn't step back after coming this far, so I accepted the challenge and asked, Tell me what do you want to eat for dinner today? She knew that I had never cooked any daal (pulse) till now, so she said that she wanted to eat Arhar Daal (Pigeon Pea) and Roti. I said okay and started preparing.
This is not a perfect recipe blog because, being an aspiring home cook, I took pictures of as many steps as I could. So if something is missing, please forgive me! 😊🙏
First of all, I washed a bowl of Arhar Daal in water and soaked them for a few hours. Then, first thing in the evening, I chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillies, red chillies, and fresh coriander and kept them aside.
Then, I heated some oil in a pan and added some mustard seeds. I don't know its importance; I just know that since childhood, I have seen my mother adding mustard seeds to daal and that dal was super tasty, so I thought I should also add it. ✌️
Then, in less than a minute, I added chopped onion, green chilli and red chilli to this pan and stirred it for a while and then added chopped tomatoes to it.
Now this mixture of tomatoes and onions had to be cooked, so I added salt, red chili powder, dry coriander and garam masala and mixed it well and left it covered for 2 minutes.
Meanwhile, I strained the Arhar Daal and cooked them in the pressure cooker for 2 whistles.
Then I added this boiled Daal to the spices in the pan and mixed it well and added a glass of water and left it to cook on low flame.
I could not take pictures of kneading the dough because it is a very difficult task but you can see the steps of making roti below. First of all, this is a dough ball which will be rolled and given the shape of a roti.
Don't judge me by the shape of my roti. No matter how hard I try, I don't get perfect rounds and neither do all the rotis turn out to be of equal size.
Now it is time to cook the roti, so I put this rolled roti on the pan and after roasting it a little on both sides, I put it directly on the gas and roasted it once on both sides. Now I don't know the reason for this, but maybe the roti gets cooked faster by roasting it directly on the gas.
Here I have applied Desi Ghee on them and you can see that as I said, my rotis are neither perfectly round nor are they all of the same size. But if you ignore the size and shape, these rotis look lovely!😍
Meanwhile, the Daal was also cooked completely, so I turned off the gas and added the fresh coriander, which I had chopped earlier, squeezed a lemon in it and mixed it well, and my dinner was ready to be served!
Well, obviously my wife found the food very tasty, meaning the result of the challenge was going to be much better than expected, but I told my wife that this food is good but it is less tasty than the food you make. And with this, I won even after losing. 😄😅

The important thing is to start, and he really has a good face.
The risk is that your wife likes it, and from now on she invites you to cook for her on a daily basis.
She would invite me to cook often if I accepted her compliments😄 This is why I rated my food less tasty than her. 😁✌🏼
