Things seem to be under control here (for now) with the whole covid situation which means that things are getting back to somewhat normal.
This means that my son is back playing soccer with our local club. Yesterday was their first game for the season and they won 6-2 which they were all pretty happy with. I enjoy watching him play even though it does eat up a few hours in the middle of the day.
With not too much time last night I was looking through this site that @andrewmusic showed me that has these thing things they call 'stems'. Not sure what that stands for but the site lets you download the separate audio tracks from many many many songs. You can then import those track into a DAW and remove the guitar (or whatever) and re-record that part.
Now @andrewmusic had a post the other week where he played guitar over a Justin Bieber song. I said that he didn't look like a Belieber and he rightfully replied that he like many styles of music and many different artists.
To show that I also listen to all sorts as well I found this song that is pretty high up on the cringe list. If you haven't seen the clip yet and want to feel uncomfortable check it out on YouTube. All that aside it is a great 90's rock track and fun to play.

My son plays center back and has done since he started about 10 years ago. This year he's gone back to his old club and is really enjoying playing with a few mates.

I know all too well about how much time gets eaten when my son also went to play soccer since the summer. I started as a spectator and ended up their team-coach with 2 training-sessions and 1 match haha.

I've been a team manager before but I have 0 soccer knowledge so have not been given the responsibility of coaching or even linesman. My son was in NPL league pre-covid which is a higher-ish Australian league. His coach was well know for his coaching ability, but unfortunately also known for throwing tables and punching walls. Have to admit I'm glad he's gone back to his old club while he finishes his year 12 studies.
I can't see you doing any of that kind of thing as a coach. All your aggression comes out on the guitar! 😁
haha, when he joined his soccer club (he's 7 now) they had a lot of kids joining and not enough trainers for the teams so I figured ... if I'm going to watch every training then I might as well help out. I was already playing with him during the first lockdown last year before he joined the club and I figured that it would be somewhat similar but only with a few more kids. With their age ... I was so wrong haha. But I do enjoy it much more that I anticipated. I even started a course at the Dutch soccer federation (KNVB) so I know more of what to do when he transfers to the under 8 group at the end of the season.
But indeed, sometimes those trainings are a tad frustrating (all those kids being 6 and 7 ... I respect teachers that have to handle those kids much more haha) , so the guitar is the perfect outlet

Is that backing from the original song? I tend to get backing tracks from here, but they are all covers. They are good enough for playing along with.
My kids were never really into soccer (or other sport), so I've not had to stand in fields watching them play.
I'm surprised that you know the band and not the song. Pretty sure they only had that one 'hit'. I heard on the podcast that your daughter plays a number of instruments which must be nice. I love my kids to death, but musical.... they are not. They are both quite sporty which they get from their Mum's side.
Well I know the name from somewhere. My daughter loves her music. She's really hoping there will be some events this year. I may be able to jam with my friends soon.
