When a colleague and friend of mine saw my other vid I recorded from Kreator, he asked me if I could also play Endzeit from Heaven Shall Burn.
Uhhh... from who?
Apparently Heaven Shall Burn is a pretty big and popular Metalcore band, but even though I listen to a lot of different music genre's, HSB never came across a playlist.
(this reads heaven shall burn ;) )
So, since I didn't knew the band or the song, I decided to check it out and give it a go.
In my search for Guitar Plugins I came across ML Sound Labs. They create all kinds of Guitar Amp Sims and IR's. I downloaded the Roots pack. This contains 4 amp sims 'modeled' by Fluff of which one is free to use. You can use https://ml-sound-lab.com/collections/amp-sims/products/amped-roots to get to the page where you can download it.
They have created some nice guitar amps and this is one of them. I also bought the SuperDuper amp pack from them of which I will do a run down in the near future :)
So for the song, I recorded 4 guitar tracks (2 rhythm, 1 for the melody thingy and 1 for the soloish part halfway of the song) and 1 bass guitar track joined by the drumtrack from EZDrummer 2.
I am a bit unhappy with how the mix turned out in the end since the kickdrum is kind of overwhelming (although I believe that that is also the case in the original) and I learned that the signal of the guitar that I was recording was too hot which doesn't help for the recorded guitar sound.
I did experiment with having a video with multiple camera angles of which I think works quite nice.
Here's the cover, be sure to let me know what you think or how I can improve things. Feedback is always welcome.
And for those interested in the original :
That sounds awesome! lml
Sounds good to me. I have attempted some multi-track videos, but it gets tricky to get it all in sync and I just have basic software (using Linux). If I am doing proper multi-track audio then I don't want to get distracted by video at the same time. However I do get inspired by people like @sketch.and.jam, @gtown and @dreamrafa.
It did remind me a bit of this track by one of my favourite bands. I have even attempted to play it. Drop B is a bit out of my safe zone :)
