Brainstorming Hive Improvements With @jackmiller, @thehive, and @jarvie

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

You can find us in the Hive discord at: https://discord.gg/aqM8Jjd

We will be doing think tanks every Wednesday in that server at 6:00 PM Eastern in an attempt to include our European friends.

I will go through this and gleen some of the ideas from it.

We are working on a "Living Document". This is very primative, and we will figure out some better ways, including possibly a Hive Wiki.

Some ideas discussed (that I happened to take notes on)

  • The week prior to the think tank show will be talking about the topics the community wants to talk about.
  • We should look into GitLab and get comfortable with it - this may be a good place to put ideas where there are also devs.
  • It would help to have someone comfortable with GitLab in the Think Tank shows
  • During shows, we should have technical people that can tell us if the discussion is practical, or at the very least give us an idea of how difficult it would be to perform.
  • Having a tutorial to PeakD, think beginning levels of a video game where you only perform simple actions, in a linear form, to educate users. Jarvie mentioned that an extension may be the best thing to do here, and the creator could also create tutorials for different projects on the blockchain.
  • Exploring reward systems, not just upvotes of monetary, badges?
  • Can we set up a bounty system?
  • Can we create a way of delegating, similar to the Hive proposal system, but for HP?
  • Analytics (I really want to talk to Jarvie more about this, for various reasons).

Liquid Rewards will be split with @jackmiller, @thehive, and @jarvie

Just following up from our Discord discussion. My suggestion was to analyze actual rate of distribution from new whales list to determine whether Hive distribution is consolidating or expanding. Historically distribution has expanded over time, but much of this was driven by @misterdelegation support of various dapps that consistently upvoted their users.

Without that, do the new whales provide enough community support to expand distribution, or do the rewards they share with the community pale in comparison to the curation/author/witness rewards that they collect? Since there isn't enough post-fork data to establish a trendline yet, we can extrapolate based on the current behavior of top 100 whales. Are they collecting more in rewards than is generated from the inflation dilution of their stake?

With the change to the rewards in hard fork 21 I think it was the curve given to the rewards, The top tier (high roller) gain much more than the lower user, The lower user now give much less in a reward to gain curation reward from, The top tier gain extra % that was removed from lower levels.

That's an important factor... but the deciding factor is whether top accounts are voting more for users outside the top 100 than they are receiving from author and witness rewards.

Wow! Thanks for the split, That really was not necessary.

No biggie :)

Much thanks to all of you for moving forward. It is good to see folks step up, identify what works, and how we can make HIVE the best it can be.

We live in a strange time. It is good to know that there are folks who look not just to complain about what might be wrong, but are proactive. We have learned over the past few months that: crisis management is not the way to go.

Be safe everyone and thank you again.

There are so many people that want to help but don't know how, hopefully we can figure out a way to mobilize them.

I am not the most dependable person (I am very self-aware of my short-comings), but I will volunteer to help in any capacity that the community sees fit to assign me.
