La vida está dada según las circunstancias, por eso resulta determinante la actitud con que decidimos afrontarla.
En mi caso, cuando me sobrecogen las adversidades, canalizo de la mejor manera posible revertirlas, es algo que aprendí, obligada por mis condiciones físicas, aceptadas a través del tiempo.
Hive me ha sorprendido de forma grata, y aunque es un universo desconocido para mí, tengo manos amigas que se extienden y me lo han ido mostrando entre todos: @restaurador, @maylink, @roswelborges, @iriswrite y @nayecuarzo1969.
Mi nombre es Elena María Obregón Navarro, soy artesana, escribo poesía y me encantaría consumarme como poeta.
Mi mente viaja en retrospectiva reiteradamente a mis orígenes, al recuerdo del pueblito donde viví mi infancia, adolescencia y gran parte de la juventud, una comunidad rural, al sur de Florida (donde resido en la actualidad) provincia de Camagüey, Cuba.
En las décadas de los sesenta y primera mitad de los setenta, era de solo ochenta viviendas y un centro múltiple de servicios básicos que es la carta de presentación del lugar.
Soy la menor de una numerosa familia y llegué a sus vidas sin que me estuvieran esperando pues me separan varios años de edad de mis hermanos.
Desde muy pequeña demostré mi afición por la poesía y otras manifestaciones artísticas. En actos públicos comunitarios, pedía cantar o declamar desde la seguridad de los brazos de mi madre.
La etapa más difícil de mi vida, como la de casi todos, fue la adolescencia, porque me sobreprotegía toda una prole y por otra parte en esa etapa de la vida se da la importancia, que no tiene, a lo estético, lo superficial, por lo que mis características diferentes del resto de las chicas de mi edad me dieron una actitud introvertida y los libros me abrieron su alma.
Anduve incursionando en la música y el teatro. El teatro me ayudó a perder los miedos y la música a entender que hay que aprender a soltar lo que no conduce a lugar alguno.
Terminé decantándome, en primera instancia, por la literatura, en ella encuentro la manera de canalizar los diferentes estados circunstanciales por los que transito y expresar con libertad mis emociones.
Como segunda opción tengo la artesanía, me funciona como el lugar donde me reinicio y me reconstruyo.
Con la literatura, transito todas las aristas de la vida, en ella está la exaltación de mi espíritu creativo, la adrenalina que libero en cada parto de un nuevo texto, la artesanía es el sitio de catarsis.
Realizo muñequería y otras manualidades textiles, trabajo la técnica del parche y el tejido a crochet que es mi mejor terapia, el placer de observar la carita de mis amigurumis solo es remplazable por la sonrisa de mi nieta, pero de mis muñes como de mi pequeña, estoy segura, que hablaremos más de una vez.
Pondré a disposición de esta comunidad no solo mi trabajo como artista, también el de otros, tanto los que colaboran en la realización de los proyectos que lidero, como todo el que crea les resulte de interés.
Pretendo además, desde mi modesta visión, que este espacio donde habito pueda ser conocido desde todos sus tópicos de una manera diáfana y sencilla.

Life is given according to circumstances; therefore, the attitude with which we choose to face it is decisive.
In my case, when adversity overwhelms me, I channel my energy into overcoming it in the best way possible. It’s something I learned, compelled by my physical condition, which I have come to accept over time.

My name is Elena María Obregón Navarro. I am a craftswoman, I write poetry, and I would love to establish myself as a poet.
My mind frequently travels back in retrospect to my origins, to memories of the small town where I spent my childhood, adolescence, and much of my youth—a rural community in the south of Florida (where I currently reside), in the province of Camagüey, Cuba.
In the 1960s and the first half of the 1970s, it consisted of only eighty houses and a multi-service center, which was the town’s main feature.
I am the youngest of a large family, and I arrived in their lives unexpectedly, as there is a significant age gap between my siblings and me.
From a very young age, I showed a passion for poetry and other artistic expressions. At community public events, I would ask to sing or recite while safely held in my mother’s arms.
The most challenging stage of my life, as is the case for many, was adolescence. I was overprotected by an entire clan, and, at the same time, during that stage of life, too much importance is given to aesthetics and superficiality. Because I was physically different from the other girls my age, I became introverted, and books opened their souls to me.
I explored music and theater. Theater helped me overcome my fears, and music taught me that sometimes, you have to let go of things that lead nowhere.
Eventually, I gravitated towards literature as my primary passion. Through it, I find a way to channel the different circumstances I go through and express my emotions freely.
My second passion is craftsmanship—it serves as the place where I reset and rebuild myself.
Through literature, I navigate all facets of life. It is where my creative spirit is exalted, where I release the adrenaline that comes with giving birth to a new piece of writing. Craftsmanship, on the other hand, is my space for catharsis.
I create dolls and other textile crafts, specializing in patchwork and crochet, which is my best therapy. The joy of seeing my amigurumis’ little faces is only rivaled by the smile of my granddaughter. But about my dolls, just like about my little one, I am sure we will talk more than once.
I will share not only my work as an artist with this community but also that of others—those who collaborate on the projects I lead, as well as anyone whose work I believe may interest you.
Additionally, from my humble perspective, I intend to present this space where I dwell in a clear and simple manner, allowing it to be known from all angles.
