And that's when I go to the kitchen and on the bar that I had built in the centre of that space, I see the Service Bell.
So here I go with the third day of the Not So Ordinary Ordinary Items Challenge 😌
Nunca me va a faltar material para este ejercicio porque estamos rodeados de tantos objetos… Y mira que he intentado ser minimalista, porque ese estilo realmente incide en la calidad y claridad de nuestras vidas, sin embargo no lo logro. I always wanted to have a service bell. I used to see them in hotels and restaurants and whoever was present, whether known or unknown, I would say: "one day I'm going to buy it, you'll see", because it turns out that this object here in Cuba is classified as rare. It is not for sale. Or at least I never saw it in a shop.
It turns out that one day, I don't know how it happened, I was walking with one of my ex-girlfriends in a shopping centre in Havana and I saw a little white box in the department of everything for five (at that time the CUC was in circulation) and I opened it. I was astonished at what it contained, it was what I wanted!
That's the point, it's an object that anchors me to someone and in terms of energies, some people say that there are things that we need to let go of. Do you believe that idea?
Whatever, it is my little service bell and several times a day I ring it, as if it were saying to me: Wake up! and I go on with this busy life.
Siempre quise tener una campanilla de servicio. Las veía en hoteles y restaurantes y al que estuviera presente, ya fuera conocido o desconocido le decía: “un día la voy a comprar, tú verás”, pues resulta que ese objeto acá en Cuba clasifica como raro. No se vende. O al menos yo nunca lo vi en una tienda. Resulta que un día, no sé cómo fue aquello, andaba yo con una de mis ex parejas por un centro comercial de La Habana y vi en el departamento de todo por cinco (en aquel momento circulaba el CUC) una cajita blanca y la abrí. Quedé estupefacta con lo que contenía. ¡Era eso, lo que yo quería! He ahí la cuestión, es un objeto que me ancla a alguien y en términos de energías, dicen algunas personas que hay cosas que necesitamos soltar. ¿Crees tú en esa idea?Sea como sea es mi campanita de servicio y varias veces al día la sueno, como si ella me dijera: ¡Despierta! y continúo con este ajetreado vivir.
Creative process / Proceso creativo
Getting rid of the reflections to photograph this thing was the hardest part. I actually decided that I'm going to build myself a light box because if I have to keep photographing objects, it's going to come in handy. The damn reflections were a reminder that that service bell reminds me of a ghost and it's still here, inside my house!
Another thing, I didn't use Photoshop to clean up some of the little bits of junk that fell on the improvised set. I preferred to leave them there, because nothing is perfect, nobody is perfect and I... whatever they say, I don't think I will ever get rid of this object, even if it depends on my survival to erase from my universe, the person who is on the other side holding a rope to the little bell and me.
In the last image is everything I used in the creation process, including my coffee mug, in honour of @rubencress, the creator of this Challenge. He dedicated today's post to the tasty and for me indispensable coffee.

De hecho decidí que voy a construirme una caja de luz porque si tengo que seguir fotografiando objetos, me va a resultar muy útil. Los malditos reflejos eran el recordatorio de que esa campanilla de servicio me remite a un fantasma y sigue aquí, ¡dentro de mi casa!Otra cosa, no usé Photoshop para limpiar algunas pequeñas basuritas que cayeron en el improvisado set. Preferí dejarlas ahí, porque nada es perfecto, nadie es perfecto y yo... digan lo que digan, creo que no voy a deshacerme nunca de este objeto, aunque de mi supervivencia dependa borrar de mi universo a esa persona que está del otro lado sujetando una cuerda hacia la campanita y yo.

I just realize you have been using a smartphone to take your photographs... That's impressive. These are stunning black-and-white photographs (I thought you took them with a DSLR).
Reflections can be quite challenging! Try photographing a glass Christmas ball... ha :D you will become frustrated, but it is a good exercise to find smart solutions! Thank you for the cup of coffee tribute, I just had a cup myself to start the day and the continue with the rest of the challenge ^^
