Mi querido/da Hiver..
No suelo ocultar mi rostro tras una máscara en los eventos de la comunidad, pero cuando mi colega de Artes Plásticas, la profe María Milagro me invito a participar como jurado de un concurso infantil de disfraces hechos con materiales reciclados, le dije que traeria mascaras para el jurado. Tengo en casa estas máscaras que hice hace unos 7 años con la técnica del papier maché para un video musical del músico francés Vince Rose. Me parecieron apropiadas para la ocasión, por estar hechas con papel reciclado, muy a tono con la propuesta del concurso.
La actividad estaba acordada para las 9 de la mañana. Llegando al lugar me sume junto a mis colegas María de artes Plásticas y Rosmery de danza, a preparar esta especie de cortina improvisada, que serviría para crear un área reservada para los modelos que desfilarian por la passarella.
Detrás de la cortina la profesora Rosmery organizaba a los niños participantes. Era una experiencia nueva para los noveles artistas del modelaje. Y viendolos disfrute de lo creativo que resultaron los vestuarios. Las madres y abuelas eran las cómplices secretas del resultado mágico de los disfraces.
Los niños siempre tienen esa disposición para el arte y la alegría. Cada uno se creó un personaje. Habían bellas princesas, modelos de ocasión, romanos , piratas y otros vestuarios experimentando con los materiales reciclados.
Fue un desfile bonito, lleno de colorido y gracia, también de imprevistos causados por la influencia del viento marino sobre los vestuarios. Los pequeños exhibieron sus disfraces al estilo de las passarellas parisinas. Algunos lucieron más expresivos y otros más timidos. El desfile fluyo bien y pudimos disfrutar de la ingeniosidad con que bolsas de plástico, revistas, periódico, vasos y cucharas plásticas, así como cartón y otros materiales se convirtieron en la moda del momento.
Llegó el momento de la sesión del jurado. Con mis colegas Mayra ( profe de danza) y Grisel ( profe de teatro) me senté a colegiar nuestras opiniones para otorgar una mención y tres premios. Como habíamos estado observando a los niños desde que llegamos y posteriormente los vimos desenvolviendose en el desfile, no nos tomó mucho tiempo para compartir criterios y acordar quienes serían los premiados. Ser jurado en un concurso no es tarea fácil, pues se trata de ser justos teniendo en cuenta varios aspectos, para lograr ciertamente premiar a los mejores.
Frente a la hermosa playa , todos esperaban con júbilo el momento de la premiación. Habían estado varios días preparando sus disfraces para esta ocasión, y ahora estaban recibiendo el reconocimiento del jurado, de sus padres y de la comunidad.
Comenzamos la premiacion otorgando un reconocimiento especial a esta niña que presento un disfraz elaborado con papel, papel de aluminio y bolsa plástica.
Esta pequeña con su vestuario de vivos colores obtuvo la mención.
Batman, logró hacer un excelente disfraz con bolsas negras de polietireno y se llevo el tercer lugar.
Esta bella princesa azul, conformo su hermosa apariencia con objetos de plástico, como bolsas, vasos y cucharas. Y fue premiada con el segundo lugar.
Escogido como el mejor disfraz, es el de esta niña, cuyo material principal fue el papel de revistas. Papeles sabiamente organizados y tejidos, que logran armonía y belleza como vestuario. Aunque no participéi en la confección del traje, puedo decir que me siento muy contento por lo logrado por esta pequeña a quien tengo como alumna en mi Taller de Artes Plásticas en la Casa de la Cultura.
Era sabado , 1ro de junio, dia Internacional de la Infancia, y estaba por llegar el 5 de junio, el Dia Mundial del Medio ambiente, ambas fechas son muy importantes para nuestra comunidad de Playa Baracoa del municipio Bauta en la provincia Artemisa, Cuba. Una vez más los miembros del proyecto comunitario: Por Nuestro Entorno y el colectivo de la Casa de la Cultura Comunitaria, unieron ideas y fuerzas para activar la cultura en nuestra comunidad. En esta ocasión celebrando la alegría de nuestros niños y educándonos para la preservación del medio ambiente.

My dear Hiver...
I don't usually hide my face behind a mask at community events, but when my colleague in Plastic Arts, teacher Maria Milagro invited me to participate as a judge for a children's costume contest made with recycled materials, I told her I would bring masks for the jury. I have at home these masks that I made about 7 years ago with the papier mache technique for a music video of the French musician Vince Rose. The activity was scheduled for 9 o'clock in the morning. Arriving at the place I joined my colleagues Maria from plastic arts and Rosmery from dance, to prepare this kind of improvised curtain, which would serve to create an area reserved for the models that would parade along the passarella.
Behind the curtain, teacher Rosmery organized the participating children. It was a new experience for the novice modeling artists. And watching them I enjoyed how creative the costumes turned out. The mothers and grandmothers were the secret accomplices of the magical result of the costumes.
Children always have that disposition for art and joy. Each one created a character. There were beautiful princesses, occasional models, Romans, pirates and other costumes experimenting with recycled materials.
It was a beautiful parade, full of color and grace, but also full of unforeseen events caused by the influence of the sea wind on the costumes. The children exhibited their costumes in the style of the Parisian passarellas. Some looked more expressive and others more shy. The parade flowed well and we enjoyed the ingenuity with which plastic bags, magazines, newspapers, plastic cups and spoons, as well as cardboard and other materials became the fashion of the moment.
It was time for the jury session. With my colleagues Mayra (dance teacher) and Grisel (theater teacher) I sat down to collegiate our opinions to award one mention and three prizes. As we had been observing the children since we arrived and later saw them performing in the parade, it didn't take us long to share criteria and agree on who the winners would be. Being a jury in a contest is not an easy task, because it is about being fair taking into account several aspects, to certainly reward the best.
In front of the beautiful beach, everyone was waiting with jubilation for the moment of the awards ceremony. They had spent several days preparing their costumes for this occasion, and now they were receiving the recognition of the jury, their parents and the community.
We began the award ceremony by giving special recognition to this girl who presented a costume made with paper, aluminum foil and a plastic bag.
This little girl with her brightly colored costume got the mention.
Batman, managed to make an excellent costume with black polyethylene bags and took third place.
This beautiful blue princess made her beautiful appearance with plastic objects, such as bags, cups and spoons. And she was awarded second place.
Chosen as the best costume, is the one of this girl, whose main material was magazine paper. Papers wisely organized and woven, which achieve harmony and beauty as a costume. Although I did not participate in the making of the costume, I can say that I am very happy for the achievement of this little girl who I have as a student in my Plastic Arts Workshop at the Casa de la Cultura.
It was Saturday, June 1st, International Children's Day, and June 5th, World Environment Day, both dates are very important for our community of Playa Baracoa in the Bauta municipality in the province of Artemisa, Cuba. Once again the members of the community project: Por Nuestro Entorno and the collective of the Casa de la Cultura Comunitaria, joined ideas and forces to activate the culture in our community. Me parece muy original, los niños pueden ser creativos al crear sus disfraces usando lo que tengan a mano y la vez crean conciencia sobre el reciclaje y el medio ambiente. Se ve que le pusieron empeño a sus disfraces.
