Hola a todos, es un gusto para mí unirme a Hive. Me llamo Rashel Regueira Reyes, aunque prefiero ser llamada con el apodo que me dio mi padre desde pequeña: Shelly. Nací el 17 de diciembre de 2004, y fui bendecida con una gran familia, mis padres, dos hermanos mayores, tres tíos abuelos, además de mis dos abuelas adoradas y mis exigentes abuelos.
Hello everyone, it's a pleasure for me to join Hive. My name is Rashel Regueira Reyes, although I prefer to be called by the nickname my father gave me since I was a little girl: Shelly. I was born on December 17, 2004, and I was blessed with a great family, my parents, two older brothers, three great uncles, plus my two adored grandmothers and my demanding grandfathers.
Al ser la menor y única niña de tres hijos, se me crió de una manera diferente, con sumo cuidado, como si fuera de cristal, pero yo siempre fui una niña con mucha energía y no me dejaba llevar por tantos cuidados. Con mis hermanos hice muchas travesuras, desde escalar árboles y pintar las paredes de la casa hasta armar fiestas mientras la familia no estaba, despertarnos en la madrugada a escondidas para comer dulces, y destrozar los adornos de vidrio y porcelana con nuestras pelotas de basket y baseball; incluso prefería (y aún lo hago) los juegos de niños como la guerra con los soldaditos, las carreras de carros y las canicas, antes que los juegos de niñas con las muñecas, pues estas siempre me han dado mucho miedo.
As the youngest and only child of three children, I was raised in a different way, with the utmost care, as if I were made of glass, but I was always an energetic child and didn't let myself get carried away with so much care. With my brothers I got into a lot of mischief, from climbing trees and painting the walls of the house to throwing parties while the family was away, sneaking up at dawn to eat sweets, and smashing glass and china ornaments with our basketballs and baseballs; I even preferred (and still do) boys' games like soldiers' war, car races and marbles to girls' games with dolls, which have always scared me to death.
A los tres años supe que tendría que superar ese miedo, pues había nacido una pequeña llamada Sophía, hija de mis vecinos del edificio, que con el tiempo se convertiría en algo más que mi pequeña vecina: mi primera amiga, y más aún, mi hermana menor. Con ella aprendí a convivir con el miedo a las muñecas para poder jugar juntas, ya que siempre estaba sola al ser hija única. Cada cosa que yo aprendía se la enseñaba, cosas como aprender a vestirse sola, a abrocharse los cordones de los zapatos, y posteriormente a leer, escribir, contar y cantar, lo que más amamos hacer juntas.
At the age of three I knew I would have to overcome that fear, because a little girl called Sophia had been born, the daughter of my neighbours in the building, who would eventually become more than just my little neighbour: my first friend, and even more, my younger sister. With her I learned to coexist with the fear of dolls so that we could play together, since I was always alone as an only child. I taught her everything I learned, things like how to dress herself, how to fasten her shoelaces, and later how to read, write, count and sing, what we most loved to do together.
Volviendo un poco atrás en el tiempo, cuando Sophi cumplió su primer año, sus padres realizaron una fiesta. Ahí fue donde conocí a su prima Daniela, quien se convirtió en mi mejor amiga. Ella y yo nos hicimos tan unidas que pasabamos todo el tiempo posible juntas, tanto dentro como fuera de la escuela, y así aprendió algunas de mis travesuras. También tenemos el mismo sueño de ser cantantes, y teniendo apenas unos siete años de edad participamos en un concurso de canto, donde descubrimos lo que es el miedo escénico tras enfrentarnos a un público de más de miles de personas.
Going back in time a bit, when Sophi turned one, her parents threw a party. That's where I met her cousin Daniela, who became my best friend. She and I became so close that we spent as much time together as possible, both in and out of school, and she learned some of my antics. We also have the same dream of being singers, and when we were only about seven years old we participated in a singing competition, where we discovered what stage fright is like after facing an audience of over a thousand people.
Cuando tenía ocho o nueve años, cursando el 4to grado de primaria, descubrí mi pasión por el arte en general. Comencé a dibujar y crear un estilo propio con el paso de los años, me inicié en el mundo del origami y las manualidades creando mis propias artesanías, descubrí mis capacidades como actriz y de escritura, y luego, con la llegada de un grupo de profesores de música a mi escuela, hice pruebas de captación para estudiar en un conservatorio, las cuales aprobé y así, a tan temprana edad, comencé a estudiar mi actual carrera.
When I was eight or nine years old, in the 4th grade of primary school, I discovered my passion for art in general. I began to draw and create my own style over the years, I started in the world of origami and handicrafts creating my own crafts, I discovered my abilities as an actress and writing, and then, with the arrival of a group of music teachers at my school, I took auditions to study at a conservatory, which I passed and so, at such a young age, I began to study my current career.
Pero no todo es color de rosa. Al haber tomado esa decisión de estudiar música siendo tan pequeña, no sabía las consecuencias que eso traería a mi vida. Quería estudiar canto pero no era posible, por lo que tuve que conformarme con tocar un instrumento que con el tiempo aprendí a odiar. Mis horas de juego se convirtieron en horas de estudio, perdí gran parte de mi infancia para complacer a mis padres en ese sueño de volverme alguien grande. No tenía tiempo para ver a Dany, y mi alegría se volvió estrés y ataques de ansiedad. Durante años dejé de ser quien era y me volví una máquina de estudios y conciertos con melodías vacías. Imploré para que me dieran la baja, pero mis padres no aceptaron y hasta hoy sigo estudiando esta carrera, siendo ya diez años.
But not everything is rosy. Having made the decision to study music at such a young age, I didn't know what the consequences would be for my life. I wanted to study singing but it wasn't possible, so I had to settle for playing an instrument that I eventually learned to hate. My hours of play became hours of study, I lost a large part of my childhood to please my parents in their dream of becoming a grown-up. I had no time to see Dany, and my joy turned into stress and anxiety attacks. For years I stopped being who I was and became a study and concert machine with empty melodies. I begged to be discharged, but my parents did not accept, and to this day I'm still studying this career, now ten years old.
Lo bueno de mi carrera fue que conocí a muchas personas e hice nuevos amigos, a quienes amo con toda mi alma, pues somos un equipo a pesar de la distancia, y no me imagino mi vida sin ellos. Todos o casi todos sentimos cosas similares por nuestra vida musical, y queremos estudiar otras carreras para sentirnos menos frustrados, y nos esforzamos para conseguirlo.
The good thing about my career was that I met many people and made new friends, whom I love with all my heart, because we are a team despite the distance, and I can't imagine my life without them. We all or almost all of us feel similar things about our musical life, and we want to study other careers to feel less frustrated, and we strive to achieve it.
Actualmente tengo dieciocho años y de cierta manera algo de libertad, por lo que comencé a salir a fiestas y hacer nuevos amigos. Un día en que Sophi y yo salimos juntas a montar skate decidimos hacerle una visita sorpresa a Dany. El reencuentro fue muy bueno, intercambiamos números y nos pusimos al día. Me contó que trabajaba junto a su novio y un grupo de amigos en un proyecto de música electrónica llamado @mantraspace, y me invitó a unirme. Días después ya era miembro oficial, me hice amiga de los otros promotores y desde entonces no he vuelto a alejarme de ella.
I am now eighteen and somewhat free, so I started going out to parties and making new friends. One day when Sophi and I went skateboarding together we decided to pay Dany a surprise visit. The reunion was great, we exchanged numbers and caught up. She told me that she was working with her boyfriend and a group of friends on an electronic dance music project called @mantraspace, and invited me to join. Days later I was an official member, I became friends with the other promoters and I haven't been away from her since.
En esos momentos estaba pasando por muchos problemas y había caído en depresión, y gracias a Sophi, Dany y al resto de los miembros de Mantra Space pude reencontrarme. Uno de ellos fue @theinfiltred. Desde que lo conocí no dejamos de hablar ni un solo día. Él me enseñó a darle valor a mi vida a pesar de los problemas, y me alentó a retomar mis sueños y luchar por ellos, trazarme metas y esforzarme para lograrlas. A él le debo mucho, mi estabilidad emocional sobre todo, por lo que se ha vuelto para mí una de las personas más importantes y que no quiero perder jamás.
At that time I was going through a lot of problems and had fallen into depression, and thanks to Sophi, Dany and the rest of the members of Mantra Space I was able to find myself again. One of them was @theinfiltred. Since I met him we haven't stopped talking for a single day. He taught me to give value to my life despite the problems, and encouraged me to take my dreams and fight for them, to set goals and strive to achieve them. I owe him a lot, especially my emotional stability, which is why he has become one of the most important people to me and one I never want to lose.
Él fue quien me habló de Hive y por eso estoy aquí. Aquí quiero mostrarles a ustedes el arte que mueve mi mundo a través de las letras. Me lo propuse y hoy se que puedo gracias a Eddy: quiero cantar, dibujar, diseñar, escribir, volverme grande como sueñan mis padres, pero a mi manera.
He was the one who told me about Hive and that's why I'm here. Here I want to show you the art that moves my world through letters. I set my mind to it and today I know I can do it thanks to Eddy: I want to sing, draw, design, write, become great like my parents dream, but in my own way.
