Well Hello There Horsepower Lovers!!
Remember This Mercedes?
We had this one in the shop a few months back, it had some weird troubles that we just couldn't pin point.
We then found something related to the torque converter and so we redid the torque converter and she drove fine for quite a long time actually!
Then about 7 weeks back the owner phoned us about the vehicle going into limp mode and we told him to switch off the vehicle for a good amount of time, take out the keys and lock the doors as if you would leave it.
That did seem to reset the computer and he drove for the next 7 weeks without problems.
Until today it gave the same limp mode error, something must be up ey!
Now everything points to the computer being buggered.
Valve Body Removal!!
You know, I've never really only removed a valve body from a Mercedes, well at-least not while the transmission is still fitted to the vehicle!
I suppose there's a first time for everything right!
The computer is bolted down onto the valve-body of the transmission and to get to that I will have to drain all the oil and remove the oil sump pan!
I did drain what I could but it wasn't a lot! These have funnels that you use to level them, so to get out all of the oil you need to remove the oil sump pan!
Now It's The Dirty Work!
But I did not at all think it would be such a dirty damn job! This thing wasn't built to be removed like this!
At-least I made myself a oil pan bed below in which the oil can drip into! it's huge as well so no matter on which shaft the oil trickles down I will still get it in the pan!
Dirty business!
At-least It's Easy Going!
From here on though!
Only once all the oil is removed does this job get a whole lot easier but as it gets easier it gets more annoying!
The annoying part is all of this oil dripping down onto your head and chest and not to speak of all the oil crawling down your fingers onto your hands and then your arms as you remove the bolts!
All this while lying down! Oh when that droplet falls and you can't get out of the way fast enough! That sucks!
Have you ever had an oil drop falling straight into your eye? It feels weird!
The Problem Child!
So we pin pointed it down to this now, but how can I put this? The problem came out more clear. Like there was something to work from now?
If that makes sense?
We had a solid problem and now we can work towards fixing said problem the previous time it was a different problem every time! Not this time!
So I am going to wrap this one up nicely and send it out for cloning to a new computer! The only way we can go, it has a speed sensor problem and then the vehicle can not detect how fast it is moving and there for goes into limp mode!
