What an interesting creature. Never saw anything like it. I have encountered a few scorpions 🦂 but nothing like Carl. Not sure if I could hold him… lol
Thanks for sharing 😊
When I grew up in Arizona these guys would come out during the monsoon rains and get into the house. I was always catching them and letting them go outside. When I saw Carl at an animal show I got him for nostalgia sake.
Aaawww then you are really used to them and handeling them.
When living in the northern countries like the Netherlands and Germany ( most of my life) they don’t exist. But when I lived in Spain and Malta I saw a few scorpions in the house. Even during holidays in Rome. I caught them in a glass or some container and let them free outside.
Ah right the scorpions. There were quite a few of those in AZ like the giant desert hairy scorpion fortunately none of them ever stung me. I wonder what types you found in Rome, hopefully they weren't too poisonous.
I made a photo of the one from Rome. It was really small… looked hungry. It was so small, I put it on some paper to bring outside. No idea what kind. The host other holiday home said they could sting but you won’t feel much.
It’s not a clear photo.

Haha yeah the poison just smells like vinegar and kind of stings the skin if it gets on you. Just a startling surprise for a potential predator like a bird or reptile that would want to eat the land lobster.
I think I spent around $30 for him but at the animal show. I could find free wild ones in AZ but they are definitely more willing to use their vinegar as they weren't raised in captivity like Carl.

I can imagine… there were a lot.

Wow that's a tiny little guy. Maybe they only hunt ants and silverfish.
Yes, it is. Must eat very tiny things…

Just looking at it makes my heart stop... The appearance is indeed very cool, but the poison will kill you for a while. Lol

But if you notice this animal is similar to a scorpion or a crab. Both are almost similar.
Yeah basically a lobster on land, it borrowed the crustacean template and modified it a bit.
Did he modify it at the welding shop? I think yes 😂🤣
Haha serious upgrades on the digging tools.
Maybe he wants to be perfect. lol
Wow! I'd never have guessed he was a spider. Fascinating things about him.
Yeah technically an arachnid but they are so weird that they could almost fall into their own category. He's a super easy pet.
I've been waiting so long for this post. Finally! Carl is just gorgeous!
