I do try to buy souvenirs when I visit places: I seem to like crystal glass with a bud vase from Prague, paperweight from Venice, candlestick from Waterford - all serving their purpose.
But I also have two silk woven mats from Tangier that I am terrified to put on the floor in case they get damaged. They are languishing in the top of the wardrobe.
You could give your olive paste away to a foodie and have a postcard back for your lovely collection!
That's a very good idea. I also have soy sauce, maybe that and tea may do the trick.
