Hello everyone!
Welcome to my new post. This post is my participation in the REDFISH RALLY 500, week 3.
This week's challenge is about free writing. I would like to write about a book I just read.
Its name is "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", a Jules Verne's novel 1870.

In this novel, there are four main characters: Captain Nemo, Professor Pierre Aronnax, Conseil, and Ned Land.
In 1866, rumors about a marine "monster" attacking ships in the Pacific Ocean quickly spread. Professor Aronnax from the Paris Museum who was in New York in a diplomatic mission was invited by the United States government to join an expedition to confirm the monster's existence.
Professor Aronnax and his assistant Conseil boarded the Abraham Lincoln warship. Onboard the ship they met Ned Land an expert whale hunter harpooner, who was also invited to the expedition. They left Brooklyn Harbor on June 9 and for the first 5 months they sailed without finding any evidence of the "monster", only sighting some whales until one day near the shores of Japan Ned Land spotted the animal in the waters.
During the battle Professor Aronnax and Ned Land fell into the sea and Conseil jumped into the sea in an attempt to help the professor. However, Abraham Lincoln after the battle was in bad condition being unable to maneuver to return for the castaways. Several hours after at sea they were rescued by the submarine where they meet Captain Nemo.
This way begins Professor Aronnax`s journey who is passionate about the excellent opportunity offered by the Nautilus to study underwater life.
The entire trip takes us from the shores of Japan, the island of Hawaii, through Fiji, the Java Sea, the Torres strait between Papua New Guinea and Australia where they meet a tribe of cannibals. thence to the Timor sea, rising towards the pearl banks of Manaar in Sri Lanka, then through the Arabian Sea entering the Persian Gulf, then through the Red Sea continuing its journey through the fictitious Arabian passage under the Suez Canal that connects with the Mediterranean sea, it advances through the sea of Crete where they contemplate the eruption of underwater volcanoes. From there passing through the Gulf of Tunis, the Strait of Gibraltar to the shores of Portugal where Captain Nemo shows Professor Aronnax the Atlantis’s lost ruins.
From there they start a direct journey through the Sargasso Sea to the South Pole where they sail below the polar cap and Captain Nemo claims the South Pole as his conquered domain. Upon returning they were very close to death due to an accident.
Towards the end, the trip takes us on a quick journey along the coasts of South America, the island Eleuthera in the Bahamas, Nova Scotia, and Terranova. From there it crosses the Atlantic Ocean again to England’s coasts, entering the English Channel, passing through the North Sea and culminating the journey near the Faroe Islands where finally Professor Aronnax, Conseil and Ned Land manage to escape the Nautilus to return to civilization.
Although this has been a summary of the entire journey described in the book, I have purposely omitted many details from it. The idea is to invite you to read this magnificent work which was a futuristic vision very advanced for its time.
