How It Started
It started from a comment made by @arcange under my post the other day, https://hivel.ink/hive-101265/@janwar00/the-hpud-the-magic-spell. That article contains every thing I knew about Hive Power Up Day (HIVE PUD / HPUD) at that time. In his comment, @arcange corrected some thing about my understanding on HPUD. I was so grateful for that. That’s how I learned the correct thing about HPUD.
And then it was going to be a series of comments when @arcange asked me to vote him as a witness. I didnot do that at that time right away. I took some times to learn about “witness”. I googled the keyword “hive witness”. One of the results was this page: https://wallet.hive.blog/~witnesses, where I saw list of witness to vote for.
I logged in and clicked the vote button. So @arcange is the first witness I casted a vote for. From that page I know that @arcange has been dedicating his life on hive since 2016. He created and maintains several Hive projects like HiveBuzz, HiveSQL, Engage, and some other projects. I’d like to learn about them when I have times.
What is Witness? And Why We Should Vote For Them?
Some nights ago I came to The Terminal server and wrote a short message, “I voted for a witness yesterday. The one and only so far.” @wesphilbin replied to may message, “Consider Proxy Vote as well.” And Dude ( @mondoshawan ) explained what proxy vote is, “You can choose someone as a "proxy" so your vote will go to all the witnesses this person votes for.”
Okay. But what are Witnesses? To the resque, came @brittandjosie, she put a link to her post from 8 moths ago, which contains answer to that question that has been clouding my mind recently. In the article, @brittandjosie explained that, I quote her each word: “a witness is a fundamental part in how the blockchain, in this case Hive blockchain functions. Some people might not be aware of this, but without witnesses you cannot blog!”
The article also answered questions like, “why should a hivian care about witness and witness voting”. The best part is that @brittandjosie put a screenshoot of the witness she casted her votes, and also suggest some other names that didn’t make on the screenshoot, which are @c0ff33a, @enginewitty, @followbtcnews, @gtg, @guiltyparties, @untersatz. I think I could go further with the witness vote by casting votes to these names @brittandjosie casted her votes for.
@brittandjosie told me via a discussion on Discord that it is important to vote for 30 witnesses, not only 1 or 2, or 10. Go use the right to cast all the 30 votes! “When you don’t know or so, you want to spend time as a Hiver to look into witness votes, choose a hiver you like and see what he or she voted on, and do that the same for your own votes.”

Earlier today, I casted the second vote. It went to @hivebuzz. I was about to proceed with the voting list of @brittandjosie’s, when I checked my notification and foundout @hivebuzz asked me to cast a vote for them, so I decided to first proceed with @hivebuzz. Then I casted a vote for those mentioned by @brittandjosie in her post and shown on the screenshot she shared in it. When I finished, I had used 18 votes.
Still 12 votes to cast. I am open for suggestion.
Can You Help Me : Who To Cast Votes For?
My friends, have you use all 30 votes you have? How did you decide who to cast your votes for? Do you have any suggestion to whom I might consider casting the remaining 12 of my votes quota, and why? I will really appreciate your opinion.

This is a very important topic and not the most blogged about by new arrivals just as yourself. So thank you for voting and exploring the platform in search of your vote choices for witnesses. We have many and they all or most of them work daily to provide this lovely bee hive. It’s hard work and costs money so a castes vote is also a thank you.
Still 12 to go, maybe you can look at friends blogs or a person you like as a blogger and peek at their list and see whom the votes for. A proxy is a possibility to than the proxies person votes FOR you and can be revoked at any time. That’s a trust thing that the votes won’t go to waste.
