Chira Jumper Spider

Here are some macro shots of a jumping spider. I took these photos the other day while walking in the woods. I find many species of jumping spiders daily. Identifying the correct genus or species is certainly challenging. But I am excited to do that, even though it is not my field of expertise.

This is the Chira jumping spider (Chira lucina), a member of the family Salticidae. It is said to be native to North America and the Caribbean. Given that it was found in Sumatra, it is possible that this species is distributed not only in the Americas but also in Asia.
