Earlier I saw an insect pecking at the sand. At first, I thought it was an ensign wasp, but after I approached it, it was not an ensign wasp but a tiger beetle. It was busy chasing ants and when it got them, it would press the ants into the sand with its mouth. I had a lot of patience to follow where it ran, and the moment it stopped, I took the opportunity to shoot its face.

Tadi saya melihat seekor serangga sedang mematuk-matuk pasir. Awalnya saya mengira itu tawon bendera, ternyata setelah saya dekati itu bukan tawon bendera tetapi seekor kumbang macan. Dia sedang sibuk mengejar-ngejar semut dan ketika dia mendapatkannya, dia akan menekan semut itu ke pasir dengan mulutnya. Saya harus banyak bersabar mengikuti kemana saja dia berlari, dan pada saat dia berhenti, saya menggunakan kesempatan itu untuk memotret wajahnya.
Tiger beetles (Cicindelinae) are notoriously aggressive predators due to their running speed. They have large bulging eyes, large curved mandible with sharp teeth like that of grasshoppers, and long, slender legs. Both of their shields had six spots or more. Their habitat is tropical or sub-tropical areas.
Kumbang macan (Cicindelinae) adalah predator yang terkenal agresif karena kecepatan lari mereka. Mereka memiliki bentuk mata yang besar dan menonjol, rahang bawah melengkung yang besar dengan gigi tajam seperti yang dimiliki belalang, dan kaki-kaki panjang yang ramping. Kedua perisai mereka terdapat enam totol, bisa juga lebih. Habitat mereka adalah daerah-daerah tropis atau sub-tropis.

Those tiger beetles are fast little buggers. I have quite a few around the sandy areas of my yard on the prowl and I can never get them to sit still long enough for a decent macro shot.
You're right, it is very aggressive, and almost never keeps quiet. I had to be patient waiting for it to stop running, and it would only stop for a moment when it caught an ant and ate it.

Tiger Beetle, great picture! I took one of an insect similar in color, only the color, I got little information but I will present it to the community.
