Skipper (Pelopidas), The Genus Was First Described By Francis Walker in 1870

in Fascinating Insects4 years ago (edited)

Pelopidas is the genus of skipper butterflies. Sometimes by some people, this genus is often misidentified, they think the skipper is in the moth group. What is true is that they belong to the butterfly group, although they are still in the same family as moths (family Lepidoptera). The genus was first described by Francis Walker in 1870.

The skipper has the characteristic of compound eyes which are bigger and more prominent than other butterfly species. The four wings were rather short but had the ability to fly quite quickly and streaked away. The skipper is classified as an aggressive butterfly, so it is rather difficult to aim at a very close distance.
