Cluster of Pyrrhocoris Apterus

in Fascinating Insects3 years ago (edited)

A couple of weeks ago, walking through the forest belt with my dog, in search of at least some kind of mushrooms, I stumbled upon an amazing picture!

On one of the decrepit stumps, in a large concentration were Pyrrhocoris Apterus.
They practically did not move, and were practically in suspended animation (perhaps they were preparing for hibernation? Tell me if anyone knows) ...
Or maybe they were enjoying the last rays of the sun)
But then my dachshund poked her nose into the epicenter of this swarm, and they stirred, running along the stump and falling to the ground)

There were already many individuals around the stump, and now there are even more of them with those that fell down ...
They ran and fussed like ants in an anthill, so I left them alone, because Aya showed an unhealthy interest in them, and I was afraid that she would harm them)

Thank you for your attention, and for taking the time to my post!
Take care of yourself and your loved ones and see you soon!
