Der blaue Eichen-Zipfelfalter ist ein Tagfalter aus der Familie der Bläulinge (Lycaenidae). Der Falter lebt die meiste Zeit seines Lebens in den Baumkronen von Eichen. Das Weibchen legt im Sommer seine Eier in die Blattknospe der Eichen. Das Ei überwintert und die Raupe entwickelt sich, um im Frühling mit dem ersten Blattaustrieb zu schlüpfen. Die Raupe frisst die Blüten und auch die Blätter. Die Verpuppung erfolgt am Boden in einem losen Gespinst. Der Falter schlüpft im Hochsommer und fliegt in einer Generation.
The Purple hairstreak is a butterfly from the family of Lycaenidae. The butterfly lives most of its life in the canopy of oak trees. The female lays her eggs in the leaf bud of oaks in summer. The egg overwinters and the caterpillar develops to hatch in the spring with the first leaf shoots.The caterpillar eats the flowers and also the leaves. Pupation occurs on the ground in a loose web. The butterfly hatches in midsummer and flies in one generation.

Den Falter kann man nur selten beobachten, da er sich vorwiegend in den Baumkronen aufhält und sich dort von den Honigtau ernährt. Nur an sehr heißen Tagen kommt er auf den Boden, um dort an feuchten Stellen zu saugen. Nur weil man den Falter selten zu Gesicht bekommt, bedeutet das nicht, dass er selten ist. Über die gezielte Suche nach Eiern an Eichen kann man nachweisen, dass dieser kleine Schmetterling häufiger vorkommt als gedacht.
The butterfly can be observed only rarely, because it stays mainly in the treetops and feeds there on the honeydew. Only on very hot days does it come down to the ground to suck on damp spots. Just because the butterfly is rarely seen does not mean that it is rare. By searching for eggs on oak trees, we can prove that this small butterfly is more common than we thought.

Wow, nice pics, I tried this once and struggled to find any close enough to take photos of this close as as you say they spend most of their time high in the treetops. So welldone for that 👍

Ich bin fest davon überzeugt, dass man den Falter in nahezu allen Regionen mit alten Eichenbeständen entdecken kann. Die Suche nach den Eiern erfordert jedoch Geduld.
Das Macro von dem Auge ist genial.
Nur in einem Makrofoto sind die Haare in den Augen erkennbar. Ein Grund mehr, warum ich der Makrofotografie verfallen bin. 😁
