It is distributed throughout temperate and tropical regions around the world,* and has a long list of species and genera in its order (Mantodea)**. So it is an insect that is quite popular and familiar to many people, of course. In our childhood experience, and it seems to have been passed down through generations in our community, this insect known in the local language as "Darut Canggang" (meaning: long-legged grasshopper) became the object of special play, as it would be asked where sky? Children, including myself as a child, believe that these insects are able to point the direction of the sky. When one of its forelegs is lifted upwards, we get excited and laugh because it shows the direction of the sky! That was funny, wasn't it? One of the joys in childhood is that we have a limitless world of fantasy where there are no clear boundaries between reality and myth!
All right, back to the mantis. This predatory insect, which has so many uniqueness both its raptorial forelegs, its stereo vision, its way of camouflaging, diet, reproduction and others, can always attract a special attraction every time it is seen, , an attraction that insects closely related to it do not give. So that it has a special position in the culture of many people. But what I want to tell you here, in connection with the title I have given, is about those I found in a location not far from the seafront. As I indicated earlier, these insects are already familiar in our lives, but to find such a large number of them in one location seems somewhat rare. But that is the reality I found at this location, so it makes perfect sense for me to illustrate that reality by calling it the mantis kingdom. It was because they were found in abundance there as if they were the masters of the bush. That may have been because they found it an ideal breeding ground and had enough prey to live on for their year. Here are the pictures of them that I got there. Hopefully entertaining enough!
The female mantis is laying her eggs on the bark of a tree.
A broken butterfly pupa appeared behind it. Was he the one who devoured the cocoon?
The plain tiger butterfly larvae crawling around there.
Plain tiger butterflies. I thought this was among the stock of food available there for mantises.
Another predator over there.
Amazing. The name other cangcorang in the village.
Okay, and thanks a lot.😁
