I don't know where this post is going. I just need a space in which I can write my thought. I hope you guys, as insects lovers, will understand. Yesterday I came back home and I found my ghost mantis with the "butt" on the bottom of the case. She wasn't refusing food since then. She attacked me when I tried to check her and few seconds later she died in front of me. It was really painful and my girlfriend and I cried, blaming ourselves for this. She lived only 7 months. I tried to figure out all night what we have done wrong.
It was our first mantis, so at the beginning, we weren't as "expert" as we are today. Furthermore, we had huge feeding problems due to Covid lockdown. She would have suffered a house moving, because my girlfriend and I recently moved in our first house, so we might stressed her out.
I frankly don't know. It just seems unfair. She doesn't deserve it and I cannot stand that a part of my family passed away suddenly.
It reminds me of the story of my former biology professor who told me his daughter was so sad because her tarantula had died. People like that are really passionate insect (/arthropod) lovers, and I like their dedication. :)
Very sad story
