Summer Pests & Insects: Ants -Altica !

in Fascinating Insects4 years ago

Hello hivers?

Ants are a series of scary insects that often bite their prey and even humans. Ants are often active during the day. Ants are eusocial insects of the family Formicidae and, along with the related wasps and bees, belong to the order Hymenoptera. Ants appear in the fossil record across the globe in considerable diversity during the latest Early Cretaceous and early Late Cretaceous, suggesting an earlier origin. Ants evolved from vespoid wasp ancestors in the Cretaceous period, and diversified after the rise of flowering plants.

More than 13,800 of an estimated total of 22,000 species have been classified. They are easily identified by their geniculate (elbowed) antennae and the distinctive node-like structure that forms their slender waists.

I also have Altica attack which is black all over its body, it is also one of the summer insects that can survive all time. Altica (New Latin from Greek ἁλτικός, haltikós, "jumper" or "jumping") is a large genus of flea beetles in the subfamily Galerucinae, with about 300 species, distributed nearly worldwide.

The genus is best represented in the Neotropical realm, well represented in the Nearctic and Palearctic, but occurs also in the Afrotropic, Indomalaya, and Australasia. The species are similar to each other, small metallic blue-green-bronze beetles, often distinguished from each other only by the aedeagus. The species of Altica, both as larvae and as adults, are phytophagous, feeding on plant foliage of various food plant taxa, specific for each Altica species. Onagraceae and Rosaceae (mainly Rubus) are the dominant host plant families for Holarctic species. The adult Altica beetles are able to jump away when approached.

Ants are my enemies at the moment, they are every where and coming into my house, I don't want to put poison down because of the birds and my animals.
Like your detailed description of them. Thank you for sharing @opick have a great day.

Actually, these animals are very annoying when they are in the house, but we don't need to kill them because they are also looking for food to survive.
