Bug on a tree

I have no idea what kind of bug this is, to be honest. We found two of them while we were camping (northern Saskatchewan, Canada), and it's not something I've seen before. I've tried an Image Search or two to figure out what exactly it is... but it seems like regardless how I crop the damned thing it just wants to tell me 'this is a tree'.
