Yes, insects and snack this guy is using in one sentence :D. However, the insects are not intended for me to snack, but among others for my dear chickens, because for example to breed mealworms it does not need much more than a large box, a little substrate, oatmeal like the daily coffee grinds.
Where of course also vegetable scraps from the kitchen are available, which are also very gladly accepted :).
In general, mealworms are nothing disgusting, the idea to do this more deeply, came to me through a documentary, which is about a couple, who has committed themselves to insect breeding.

Richtig, Insekten und Snack verwendet dieser Typ in einem Satz :D. Die Insekten sind allerdings nicht für mich zum snacken gedacht, sondern unter anderem für meine lieben Hühner, denn z.B. für Mehlwürmer benötigt es zur Zucht nicht viel mehr als eine große Box, ein wenig Substrat, Haferflocken wie den täglichen Kaffeesatz.
Wobei natürlich auch Gemüsereste aus der Küche zur Verfügung stehen, die auch sehr gerne angenommen werden :).
Im Allgemeinen sind Mehlwürmer nichts ekelhaftes, darauf gekommen das tiefer zu betreiben, bin ich überhaupt erst durch eine Doku, die von einem Paar handelt, welches sich der Insektenzucht verschrieben hat.

Of course, since then I also have crickets like Mediterranean crickets at home and must note that the chirping of the animals has a very relaxing effect on me :D !
But back to mealworms, because they seem to me "most efficient" so far.
The pictures shown were taken within less than 12h, of course beetles like worms also pulled the food under the ground, but after 3 days at the latest everything seen in the picture is completely eaten :D.
According to research, the females lay 300 - 600 eggs (depending on the size of the animal), from which the next beetles d evolve within 6-8 months. The most interesting thing was that the larvae can survive up to nine months without food.
I will certainly not test it for myself ;)!
Natürlich hab ich seither auch Heimchen wie Mittelmeergrillen zu Hause und muss anmerken, dass das Zirpen der Tiere einen sehr entspannenden Effekt auf mich hat :D !
Aber zurück zu den Mehlwürmern, denn die scheinen mir bisher "am effizientesten" zu sein.
Die gezeigten Bilder sind binnen weniger als 12h entstanden, natürlich haben Käfer wie Würmer das Essen auch unter die Erde gezogen, nach spätestens 3 Tagen ist allerdings alles auf dem Bild zu sehende restlos vertilgt :D.
Die Weibchen legen laut Recherche 300 - 600 Eier (je nach Größe des Tieres), aus welchen sich dann binnen 6-8 Monaten die nächsten Käfer entwickelt haben. Am interessantesten war wohl aber, dass die Larven wohl bis zu neun Monate ohne Nahrung überstehen können.
Ich werde es allerdings sicherlich nicht ausprobieren ;)!
The breeding of flies is a rather difficult task if you don't want to have a bad smell in the house and have to rely on our German weather :D.
I let them all fly in the end, the hunters in the area will have been pleased about it.
In the containers to see the animals were of course only until hatching ;).
And yes, it was complicated getting them out of there xD.
Das Züchten von Fliegen ist allerdings ein eher schwieriges Unterfangen, möchte man keinen Gestank in der Bude haben und muss sich dabei auf unser deutsches Wetter verlassen :D.
Hab sie letztlich alle fliegen lassen, die Jäger in der Umgebung werden sich gefreut haben.
In den zu sehenden Behältnissen waren die Tiere natürlich nur bis zum Schlüpfen ;).
Und ja, es war kompliziert, die da raus zu bekommen xD.
In the linked documentary, the old substrate from the breeding containers is also praised as fertilizer, what I can only fully confirm. I put you my little experiment in this regard in the upcoming post ;).
In der verlinkten Doku wird das alte Substrat aus den Zuchtbehältern anbei auch als Dünger angepriesen, was ich nur voll und ganz bestätigen kann. Ich stell euch im kommenden Beitrag einfach mal mein kleines Experiment diesbezüglich vor ;).

Die Hühner hätten sich auch über die Haferflocken gefreut...
Die bekommen als mal ein Müsli, Haferflocken only gibts nur für die Würmer ;D.^^
Hatte vor einiger zeit mal Grillen mit Knoblauch, war echt lecker 😀
