Oomph what sort of caterpillars are on the apple trees? If you introduce some fiery searchers they will take care of that problem. These guys chew up caterpillars like crazy. https://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/BENEFICIAL/BEETLES/Calosoma_scrutator.htm

I would gladly switch out my caterpillars for some cute beetles. I'm not sure what type caterpillars. I don't think they are tent caterpillars which is good.

Those fiery searchers are fierce, fast and stinky, but they sure do take care of any caterpillar problem.
