The New England Patriots find themselves at #19 in my power rankings. They could be lower on this list but they weren't awful last season, finishing at 8-9, and they still have Bill Belichick as their head coach. While it's maybe a little clearer Tom Brady had a lot to do with the Patriots' dominance, it's safe to say Belichick is still the greatest coach ever. Six Super Bowls is undeniable in my opinion. As long as he's the coach in New England, I'll always think the Patriots have a chance.
The Patriots had a top ten defense in 2022 but the offense was a hot mess in general. It had a lot to do with them having a former defensive coordinator, become an offensive coordinator. Which was for sure a ballsy move by Belichick to say the least. A lot of people questioned that and for good reason. Their second year QB Mac Jones struggled a lot and I think that was a significant reason why.
But the Patriots have come to their senses a bit it seems and hired a familiar face in Bill O'Brien. O'Brien was a coach and former OC on the Patriots from 2007-2011.
On defense the Patriots made a really good selection by choosing former Colorado Buffalo and Oregon Duck, cornerback Christian Gonzalez. His highlights are fun to watch. The Pats just adding to an already great defense.

After a funky 2022, I expect the Patriots to be a tough out in 2023.
