Burks accomplished all of this in just three seasons in one of the most notoriously difficult collegiate football conferences!
Fayetteville, Arkansas. Where Treylon was a Razorback for three years. Arkansas is such a quiet state. Interesting to see Fayetteville is near three other states. I'd love to travel the country and see some of these places.
Treylon Burks is another exciting bigger wide receiver in this NFL Draft. Burks is one of my favorite players in the draft because he is a big play waiting to happen and he does his work in a very wise, beyond his years sort of way. For the most part Burks is pretty well rounded, but he has his strengths and weaknesses. When I watch Burks I feel like he is aware of his skillset and just picks apart defenses methodically. Perhaps that's a bit dramatic but I do believe Burks has a good natural feel for the game and has a good IQ on the field. Good instincts.
Burks has very good size for the NFL. 6'2" is just a really nice height, but what else seems good for Burks is, that he is built rather compact. He has the sort of a build you would see in a shorter, stockier person. Strong lower body. Overall, the dude is simply thick which allows him to play not just as your typical big man receiver, but he can also do the gritty slants and crossers and maneuver through traffic like a Steve Smith or T.Y. Hilton for example. When Burks is playing like the traditional big man receiver, I get Hines Ward/Rashard Matthews type of vibes.
Treylon Burks is simply a really cool prospect that plays strong and is just a gamer. Burks was a multi-sport athlete in high school so I believe that's where Burks has gained his natural knack to game and make plays.
Arkansas recognized this ability clearly, and they even gave him the ball as a running back and was used as a special teamer as a freshman. Good things seem to happen when you feed Burks.
Burks, as every prospect in the draft does, has some flaws to strengthen. He could be more sharp on routes. It seems as though he relies on his great instincts and athletic gifts rather than using pure fundamentals and skill and so at times he can find himself in trouble.
But on the upside it's hard to teach athleticism and instinct AND Burks is entering the 2022 draft after his junior year, so he is a smidge younger than a portion of NFL prospects. Since Burks has the traits that are much harder to develop and coach, hopefully a good pro coaching staff can smooth out any rough edges that Burks has.
I really love the upside and potential that Burks displays. A threat anywhere on the field.
Which team would best suit Treylon Burks? I heard the Titans have had interest! I think no matter where he goes, I'll need his car. Unless it's an AFC South opponent.
