Matt Corral looks like a pretty NFL ready quarterback with a nice set of skills at the quarterback position. He attended Ole Miss University which is located in Oxford Mississippi:
Obviously Ole Miss is in Mississippi, but when it comes to these colleges, I never know exactly where the colleges are located. For no apparent reason I imagined Ole Miss to be near the ocean more down south. Well, I was DEAD wrong. I'm kind of inspired by the Malik post I made, so I may continue inserting these map images to give a better mental idea where exactly these prospects went to school. Also, it satisfies my geography fix LOL.
I am so impressed by Matt, that I almost want to put him higher on the list, but these lists are always hard to rank, so I am just going to keep him here. There is A LOT of solid talent out there.
Matt has proper height for the NFL, but does seem a little slim out there. Despite that, this kid packs a serious punch and I like the energy he brings to the game, as long as he doesn't go full Baker Mayfield, I love his grit and confidence that he displays on the field.
Matt's throwing motion, demeanor and just the way he runs an offense just feels like a pro. I love the way the ball comes out of his hand. He clearly does have a very strong arm, but he doesn't abuse that skill, he always seems to put just the right amount of velocity on the ball. It's honestly pretty beautiful. Ole Miss definitely ran some types of option/RPO stuff, but it also seemed like their offense had a lot of pro style concepts as well. Either way, the NFL has become more option-friendly in recent years so he seems to check both boxes in that department.
Matt can throw the ball so well, I almost don't think he needs to prove he can scramble, but the kid's got some good feet under him man. A solid runner, with fair agility as well. I mentioned he's a bit slim but, at least at the college level, Matt seems more than willing to lower a shoulder or make a slick move to beat a defender.
This kid is really impressive. He feels like a playmaker, a weapon.
I really don't see that many concerns here for Matt that can't be improved with some work. It'd be nice to see if he can add some thickness to his frame without sacrificing mobility. Although I believe Matt could thrive in the pocket anyway. Also, I've heard that some people wonder how Matt would perform behind a bad o-line, which I find to be a really odd thing to bring up. Ole Miss had a strong offensive line and so, often times Matt had all day to throw. But I mean, Matt did his job with protection. If Matt struggled with protection then that would be a problem. NFL teams should be building around a young QB anyway and that starts with having a strong o-line.
I mean, even Tom Brady struggles with a bad o-line, ya know?
This kid is just a ball of energy in a pocket passer. I actually mean that in a positive way. The ball comes out of his hand like a LASER. A pocket passer with solid athleticism and mobility as his second option.
Matt has had a busy month!
Matt might be the best QB in this year's draft!
What are your thoughts on Matt Corral?
Anyone who gets picked up by Ole Miss is gonna have potential. This draft is gonna be all about the sleeping QBs as it's not considered a deep QB draft compared to previous drafts. These are the Drafts that's an underrated diamond gets picked up
so sorry for the late response, I have been busy and my phone is awful at sending me notifications. Yes that's a great way to look at it. I for one absolutely did NOT see Patrick Mahomes coming! There's surely gonna be one or two QBs in this draft that do well in the NFL! GM's must do their homework!!
