Good morning to everyone . This has been a great week for SportsTalk community . We made history by commenting 170 comments from SportsTalkSocial frontend on 17th February which hasn't happened before :)
In order to further boost the engagement I am introducing "SPORTS TODAY" post .
What is it?
It will be a daily post made by @amr008.sports account which focuses mainly on engagement between various users who are interested in sports .
What can we discuss here?
Anything related to sports .
Live matches which are going on .
Discuss what you felt about a particular match after it is over .
Predict and share what you think about upcoming matches .
Talk about sports betting if you are interested , post odds which you think is good to bet on .
But mainly - live matches discussion ? That would be fun.
Format
This is important in order to keep the post clean .

Link to your post about the match ( optional )
This should be the head comment and then you can post your discussion under these comments itself . This is to prevent duplicate match comments which can be very messy .
Rules
Yes , Sportstalksocial rules . That's it , bring more people and enjoy here , there are no rules lol , prevent spam though , try to keep the place clean . Don't smash racquets in the comments .
I will post an example in this post itself and we can proceed today using this post but from tomorrow I will post this SPORTS TODAY post from @amr008.sports account so that all the rewards it gets will go to engagement project .
So what do you think the next SPORTS proposal will be? Sports Tax. ad revenue usage or something different?
I say tax because for me that's the priority right now.
After that ad revenue usage can be put up but I don't think we need to worry about it that much since we can use it at anytime in future .
I know the tax is a priority but I am also worried because it is so controversial. In a way, it might be better to do the less controversial stuff and get people used to the system. There are too many people who do not know anything about the proposals until it's over. At least this way they will be used to proposals before the taxes and can vote understanding exactly how to do so.
Did you ever finish discussing the issue with mk about your proposal? I wish we could at least agree on an issue and show why before it pases.
I agree that it is controversial but sometimes we as a community have to take hard decisions , we have to agree to disagree . It all depends on how the majority reacts but yes I get your point , we have to make them knowledgeable about the proposal system first.
Regarding mk , I don't think he was convinced , I tried to explain him my view points but after a point of time he stopped replying.
Really love this. This is what every community needs. Some decisions would be painful and hard to take but they come with great rewards.

We can't get all people to agree with everything and that's fine. Atleast you got to say your point of view and I think that convinced some other people :)

But I actually have it in my to-do list , to implement various engagement tokens into the project. I am just working on something else right now.

I don't understand why this is a controversial subject at all? Anyone that believe in Sports shouldn't think this is an issue. People that are not in Sports for the long run anyhow is the one that will lose because they just want to abuse the rewards imho ....
It's controversial in how much is acceptable. If you put in a 50% tax like last time, then I expect just as much pushback. This time I think we will be giving options so I think it should go better. In fact, we need to let poeple understand two questions:
Why the burn rate is necessary? What burn rate is acceptable to the people in the community?
I think a burn rate is necessary due to the high amount of SPORTS being put out but I do think 50% might be overboard. Adding in a 50% tax on SPORTS is not going to onboard more users. A growing tribe needs user growth and adding in an extra tax could turn people away. For example, LEO has a 10% burn rate and people feel fine posting on other front-ends knowing about this. Stemgeeks has a 50% and it may of helped them get more people on the site but the user base has not changed much (not sure so I stand to be corrected if someone has the data). And you have to note that LEO has had around 900% user growth.
To be honest we actually need 50% on SPORTS because of the high inflation and high liquidity that SPORTS has + less usecases right now .
But it might scare people ( like it did last time ) , I personally think 10% is too low so I am okay with 25% actually to begin with.

I get what your saying, but you also have to think about what kinds of new users do we want? See how many it is now that just started to post stuff on STS because they heard the price went up. They don't use the front-end ergo we as a community don't really earn anything on them joining in. We want new users yes, but we want real users that actually care. That's what's happen on Leo is that they have built such a large core fanbase that it doesn't matter if some people try to abuse it. We don't have that yet. Therefor we need the tax and anti-abuse.
That's why I was happy to read patricks new idea of multiple options of taxation in the next proposal, because I think like 10% is going to be better than 0%, and I realize that all people don't agree with me
Yes there needs to be a tax to attract new users. But the amount to be taxed is left to be debated. I think 10% or 30% might be fine but I do think 50% might be a little overboard. This is why I think people need to understand why we want people to use the site (ad revenue and improve site ranking). This is why I think letting people know where the ad revenue goes to first gives them an idea of the goal of the taxes.

Absolutely , you are right . If we have to keep the prices up , we need to pay attention to taxes.
We all really need this. Tax more than ever especially as we have more users who now use the #sportstalk tag.
We do need a tax. However I think people need to get used to the proposal system and understand what the tax is for. I think the ad revenue proposal first makes more sense since people will know where the money heads.
I think it needs to be the updated version of the tax proposal since we need to incentives traffic to the STS website. Then after that it's important the we have a proposal about handling abuse and come to a consensus in the community have it should be organized
Agreed. This is why I think deciding on what to do with the ad revenue would be better in my opinion as it serves a few purposes:
After we hash out the above points, I think people will have a better understanding of how much taxes they want to put as reasonable. This is because they know the goal of the community's ad revenue.
True , right now most of the users on STS are more aware of 2 and 3 than 1 .
It is just because it is very new to people . I guess in future ( say 2-3 months ) we can actually see people utilizing Proposal system more and more.
But didn't patrick already mention that the money was gonna be used for buyback tokens?
No it's not only for tokens. There were other things he suggested such as to onboard more users like Trivia, Quizes and competitions to attract new users. This is another use case of the ad revenue to be used partially as prizes.
I thought that's was gonna be taken from the governance fund?
It might be but I think he suggested to use some satoshis or other cryptos as the main prize and a SPORTS vote for all participants. This means that if it was taken out of the gov fund, he would still have to pay for it by selling SPORTS. Unfortunately attracting new users with only SPORTS token is not going to work as they have zero trust in this random token. This is why the main prize is going to be something different.
This was what I think Patrick was trying to say but I could be wrong.
One of the uses of Ad revenue can be burning the tokens but not 100% .
We community should once again vote for how to use the tokens , burn them ? Sell them for Hive ? Reward them ? Etc.

It goes on for 5 days and then ends in a draw! I'm English and I hate it! BUT, in the limited-overs games, it can be quite fun to play but as a spectator sport its dreadful!
