Origi is back and is finally "free": the Belgian's championship starts now

"Origi is well at last, he got rid of the bad injury that was blocking him: he didn't feel free, loose. He finally made the left-footed shot, it's an important signal for him. We have two center forwards that we can alternate." Coach Pioli welcomes back Divock Origi with a smile, after a certainly turbulent start to the season. From the serious injury in May with Liverpool to the practically skipped summer preparation and a few relapses that limited his use, the Belgian's first Rossoneri months were certainly not what one might have expected. Nothing, however, that can justify too sharp judgments one way or the other.

The player finally seemed physically present, as well as useful on several occasions and situations. He definitely has a lot of desire to score goals: it was seen against Juventus when he preferred to shoot from a deflected position rather than serve Rebic, it was seen last night in Verona when in the final minutes instead of handling the ball he tried an improbable conclusion from a very long distance: powerful, but central. It was also seen in his powerful left-footed shot, still from a distance: according to Pioli that was the symbol of his "liberation": the tendon problem in his left thigh was evidently affecting him, also mentally.

For now, the team could only enjoy Origi as a sub, it being understood that being able to count on a player of his caliber, technical and especially physical, to try to change direction and way of understanding a game is surely a luxury that not everyone can afford. With Giroud forced to work overtime so far, for the Frenchman 14 games as a starter between club and national team, the number 27's full recovery becomes more important than ever. From the point of view of rotations in the first place, and from the point of view of alternatives at the level of characteristics then: in Italy a center forward with that physical overpower can make all the difference. Moreover, to date, the various opponents are accustomed to a Milan that exploits the forward in a certain way, preferring wing play rather than deep play: Giroud's characteristics lean toward this type of situation and the coach still manages to exploit them quite well. Giving an extra option to an offensive department that already creates a lot (but sometimes materializes little) can only increase Milan's already enormous dangerousness.
