Europa League Round 8 Previews | Union SG & Anderlecht

Only some small action yesterday in the match between Man City and Club Brugge as both bets where I started to scale in very quickly saw the needed goal so no real chance to get in a bigger stake. A win is a win though and there are 2 matches tonight in the Europa League played at the same time for Belgian Teams...

Rangers vs Union

Union (75M) is generally in a good flow with 3 wins in the last Europa League matches and 4 wins in the league. In the last European match in the national Belgian station with a bad pitch they were quite lucky to get away with a 2-1 win with some key missing. Tonight they are without Machida & Burgess in the defense while Boufal and Casto montes are injured and David is not allowed to play. They are 15th in the standings and have no outlook to reach the top 8 while they have no real chance to drop out of the top 24. Generally though they take matches seriously and even players who are with a yellow danger (Ivanovic, Niang, Sykes, & Sadiki) are expected to play, at the same time I don't think that too much risk will be taken. Rangers (80M) play at home and are in a similar place with 11 points in the Europa League standings so it remains to be seen how seriously they take the match. Overall I can see it as a pretty even matchup with the home advantage and mostly the injuries and Yellow danger for Union which creates what I see as a fair -0.25 home advantage. No Pre-Game Bets

Anderlecht vs Hoffenheim

Anderlecht (124M) dropped to 7th place after losing against Plzen last round in a match where their coach fielded a B-Squad and where they just played a bad game. Over the weekend however with their A-Squad they took the deserved win over Kv Mechelen. If they win today they go straight to the 1/8 finals. they still have quite some key injuries with Dolbergn Edozie, Vertonghen and Coosemans while some of their winter enforcements and not allowed to play. So I kind of see a semi-B-Squad again similar to last week and another poor performance would not come as a surprise. Hoffenheim (145M) is only 28th in the Europa League ranking and even a big win likely would not do the trick to qualify them and they have a long list of injured players. So Anderlecht in this one has more incentives to take the win and go forward. I have Anderlecht now markets as an over team but with their A-Squad as Vasquez in the striker position hasn't fully convinced yet. Also here I would rather opt to just stay away even though I have a lean on Hoffenheim which is hard to take as they have nothing to play for really. No Pre-Game Bets
