This does sound kind of upside down and yes if he is as popular as you say he is then people tune in to watch him. He is becoming a journeyman of sorts where o one expects him to win, but still entertains because he gives his all. People like people who try and why he has supporters.

he never goes for an easy win. A lot of boring fighters use the fact that points are given for "ground control time" and this is such a boring way to win. Some people know how to get on your back and never allow them to get you off, but they also don't really try to do any damage when they are down there and are simply trying to get a 10-9 on 2 rounds and then they can do whatever they want in round 3 other than get KO'd and they win. The fans HATE this kind of fighter. Chandler, win or lose, always puts on a hell of a show for the crowd and often, even though he has a losing record, he gets a higher salary than the people that do win. At least one thing is working out for the fans I suppose.
