With the array of stars at their disposal, it was always going to raise dust irrespective of whoever the coach called up. As much as it would've been encouraging to see more players from the local league, the stars from abroad that were called up deserve their place.
As for Fred, I think it's about the coach's preference as he fits the system perfectly in the box-to-box role beside Casemiro and Paqueta
I understand your point of view, but I think there will be choices that don't make sense.
Dani Alves hasn't been competitive enough for 2 years to deserve a place at the World Cup.
Even Fred these last few years he never managed to earn his place in Manchester United's starting eleven and he never showed an above average level of exhibition. However, there are several players who play in the Brazilian championship who have shown a high level, having played in all the most competitive competitions.
I totally agree with you on the Dani Alves aspect as I see no logical reason why he's there.
But for Fred, as much as I'm not a big fan of his, I still think it's about the coach's preference for the system he wants to play. Sometimes coaches just feel comfortable working with some players irrespective of whoever is available and even doing better.
At the end of the day, it's their performance at the tournament that will justify their inclusion, so let's just give him the benefit of doubt for now
I will see how many minutes Fred will play in the world cup and how he will perform ;)
