The world’s top 3 players will tee off together for the first two days of TPC Sawgrass in a featured group.
Scheffler, McIlroy and Schauffele will go out together as Scottie Scheffler goes for the Players title for a third time in row after successfully defending last year, the first person to do so.
McIlroy’s record is a bit hit and miss at the course having missed 6 cuts and made 4 top 10’s in his previous 14 visits so he will be looking to perform and win the event for a second time in 15 starts after his 2019 win, and Xander will be hoping to go one better than his 2024 (and 2018) performance with a first win at Sawgrass.
Another featured group teeing off together on Thursday and Friday will include Aberg, Matsuyama and Thomas. Swede Aberg has made quick inroads into the world rankings and sits at No4 after only two years as a pro and will be looking to improve on his 8th place finish on his first visit to TPC Sawgrass last year.
Justin Thomas will be aiming for the title he won in 2021 and his first tour win since 2022.
