This is an aspect I haven't seen personally as the races I have beet to are all fly-away races where the transporters don't go. Big logistical effort though huh?

It is massive as I used to see the convoys on a regular basis. The Williams trucks used to stop at my in laws pub on route. The chap in charge of Red Bull's logistics has been there for over 10 years and these guys will be hard to replace. I think once you have got the hang of things it is such a specialised job that many would want to do but very few could actually do it.
Yep, it's one big machine, the F1 circus, and the way they move it all around is pretty impressive.
