Los primeros 20 minutos fueron inciertos para los dos equipos, ambos desplegaban su juego, y había un constante ida y vuelta. Italia tenia el balón, y Gales hacía presión. Al 25 vendría la más clara del partido, sería para la azurra, cuando con un pase de Bernardeschi a Belotti por la banda, este lanza el centro pero no llegó nadie para empujarla. Ya después todo era de Italia, posesión de balón y acercamiento al área del guardamenta Ward. Al minuto 39´ vendría el primero de la azurri tras una falta, en una pelota parada, Verratti la mete sutilmente en el area, en una jugada preparada y apareció Pessina que solo tuvo que empujarla al palo derecho del arquero. Italia lo volvió a intentar pero llegaría el 45´ y sin agregado el arbitro Ovidiu Hategan pitaría el final del primer tiempo. Italia en estos primeros minutos fue claramente superior en juego y dominio, no como en los dos primeros partidos, pero aún así no necesitaron de mucho para marcar territorio. Pocas veces se vio algo creativo por parte de los Galeses, que lo que hacía era generar presión en algunas zonas del terreno.

Al 53´ Ramsey quedaría solo el centrocampista de la Juventus quedaba solo en el área, pero se quedó sin angulo y perdió una jugada clave para el conjunto Gales. Al 55´saldría expulsado el jugador Galés Ampadu tras una dura entrada, pisando así de frente al jugador de la Juventus Bernardeschi, y así se quedaban los galeses con 10. Italia siguió buscando subir el marcador, y seguía con el dominio del juego. Al minuto 76´vendría la más clara para Gales. ¡Bale de volea la enganchó! Falta lateral. al segundo palo la envían y Rodon la pone de cabeza al lado contrario. ahí está Bale solo, que la engancha de primera de volea pero su zurdazo se marchó por encima del larguero. Y así se perdió la oportunidad del empate. Al 83´Italia haría una curiosa sustitución sacando al guardameta Donnarumma y dándole unos minutos a Sirigu, el arquero del Torino. ASÍ QUEDA DE MANERA DEFINITIVA EL GRUPO A: Italia pasa primera, la selección consigue así 1000 minutos sin recibir un gol, certificando hoy su imbatibilidad en la Euro ante Gales. Por su parte, Suiza hizo el trabajo ante Turquía (3-1) pero la diferencia total de goles terminó pasándoles factura de cara a la clasificación a octavos.

La azzurri demostró con buen fútbol porque sigue siendo un favorito para llevarse este preciado torneo. Los dirigidos por Mancini por primera vez en su historia logran ganar los primeros 3 partidos en una fase de grupos de la Eurocopa. Verdaderamente lo de esta selección es increíble, consiguió de esta manera su victoria número "10" consecutivamente, y se mantiene invicta con "30" partidos sin perder. Italia ha marcado siete goles en lo que va de Eurocopa. La Azzurra nunca había marcado más goles acumulados en los tres primeros partidos de la fase de grupos de la Eurocopa y el Mundial (siete goles también en 1998). La 4 veces campeona del mundo debe esperar ahora para ver cual será su rival en octavos de final. Por lo momentos pueden celebrar e irse preparando de cara al próximo compromiso.
Si hay algo más que agregar es que es plausible lo de esta selección, juegan bien. Un fútbol equilibrado en ambos aspectos, defensivo y ofensivo, muy solido en todas sus lineas. ejercen mucha presión en todo campo. Hay mucho relevo, y juego colectivo. Me ha gustado en este torneo lo de Locatelli, en la mitad de la cancha, la zona izquierda de Italia con los despliegues de Spinazzola haciendo triangulaciones con Insigne. Y sin hablar de sus zagueros centrales que son un impermeable para darle así mucho tranquilidad al arquero del PSG Donnarumma. El día de hoy destaco el juego de Verratti en su regreso a la selección, jugó y cumplió. A mi parecer podemos estar en la mira de la Italia más completa y potente de la historia.

Italy has proved to be the best team in the tournament so far. They won their 3 matches scoring 7 goals in total, which was a surprise because Italy is famous for being a defensive team that always wins 1-0. I still think France is the favorite though, but they are looking weaker after they tie against Hungary. So far, no French player has scored a single goal which is very worrisome.
