Barcelona presidential candidate Juan Laporta has vowed to do everything in his power to keep Lionel Messi, captain of the team, at Camp Nou.
Messi's contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the current season, amid many news that he may move to either Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City next summer.
And Laporta appears to be the front-runner for the Barcelona presidency, and he has confirmed that he will work hard to keep the Argentine flea in Catalonia.
Laporta said in statements to "Sky Sports": "We will need to make a big show. He (Messi) is used to winning and wants to win with Barcelona."
He added: "I will do everything possible to keep him. There are a lot of clubs that want to sign him, and we will need to make a tempting offer, but money alone does not guarantee the survival of Messi."
He continued: "Messi generates more income than expenses, his cost is only 8% of the total, and he generates 30% of the revenues for the club."
He concluded: "The survival of Messi is profitable to Barcelona, but the most important and invaluable thing is when you ask a child who is the best in the world, Messi says immediately."
Hmmm, this is good for him to know that money can't keep Messi moreover with the way the Barcelona team is going down the drain, I don't think it will be possible for them to keep Messi in the club.
So he's got to think of ways to keep Messi in Barcelona as long as he can.
