Today was football day with my cousins. It's probably been over a year since I last played, and it was rough, especially now that I'm almost a 35-year-old man and have been smoking for at least 15.
Well, my physical condition, despite being sedentary for a few years, isn't the worst. Even with age and bad habits working against me, and even though I don’t play football regularly, the skill I had when I was a kid is still there. My fitness… well, not so much.
We rented a synthetic grass field and played for about an hour and a half (I have no idea how I managed to last that long). It was exhausting, but really good! And I picked out one play I made during the match to share.
I was playing more in defense, since by the end I didn’t have the energy to keep running up and down the field. That’s when a surprise ball was sent to one of their strikers, and of course, I got to the play a bit late. But a bad touch made the ball bounce off, and at least at that moment, I was alert. I pulled off a "chapéu" (a sombrero flick), kept the ball in play, and set up a counterattack that ended in a goal.
My opponents were way younger than me, but still, this old guy can still pull off a few good plays! That move got a few laughs, and the rest is history!
Before you ask, yes, I played wearing sunglasses. I'm sensitive to bright light, and on cloudy days, it actually gets worse.

Hoje foi dia de futebol com meus primos. Talvez já faça mais de um ano que eu não jogava, e foi sofrido, principalmente agora que sou quase um senhor de 35 anos e fumo há pelo menos 15.
Bem, minha capacidade física, apesar de estar sedentário há alguns anos, não é das piores. Mesmo com os agravantes da idade e dos maus hábitos, e mesmo sem jogar futebol com frequência, a habilidade que eu tinha quando era garoto ainda está aqui. A condição física… bem, nem tanto.
Alugamos uma quadra de grama sintética e ficamos jogando por aproximadamente uma hora e meia (não sei como aguentei tanto tempo). Foi desgastante, mas muito bom! E separei aqui uma das jogadas que fiz durante a partida.
Eu estava jogando mais na defesa, porque, já no final, não tinha mais energia pra correr pra cima e pra baixo. Mas foi então que lançaram uma bola de surpresa para um dos atacantes e, claro, cheguei um pouco atrasado na jogada. Só que um domínio mal feito fez a bola espirrar e, pelo menos ali, eu estava atento. Então dei um "chapéu" e coloquei a bola em jogo para um contra-ataque, que resultou em gol.
Bem, meus adversários eram bem mais novos que eu, mas ainda assim, o velho aqui ainda dá conta de fazer algumas boas jogadas! Claro que esse drble rendeu algumas risadas e o resto é história!
Antes que perguntem, sim joguei de óculos escuros, tenho sensibilidade a claridade e nos dias dublados isso fica pior.
