2 Wins For The Reds.

Liverpool built on their opening day showing against Norwich to win against a tough opposition; Burnley. Jota and Mane gave Liverpool a 2-0 win against a spirited Burnley side who lost 2-1 in their opening match against Brighton.

Liverpool got the support of the Anfield faithfuls and their 12th Man counted against a Burnley side that was determined to cause Liverpool all sorts of problems and they did but they couldn't take advantage of the threats they posed against the Reds.

Jota came in to replace Firmino and he justified his inclusion with a brilliant goal in the 18th minute. Liverpool started the game early to ease the game. Keita ran down the side of the pitch and his cut back found Konstantinos Tsimikas whose excellent delivery found the head of Jota and he steered the ball into the back of the net. It was an excellent delivery and Jota, despite his size, he created space for himself to punish the visitors; 1-0.

Burnley thought they had scored and levelled the matters also in the 46th minute when the ball was brilliantly worked from the side and a lovely delivery found Woods and he buried his chance right in the face of the Kops but he was correctly ruled for offside.

Shortly after, Jota found Mane but he didn't get enough power on his strike and the goalkeeper gathered it comfortably. Liverpool got unlucky 2 minutes after in the 58th minute when a corner kick fell to Virgil Van Dijk and his strike came off the feet of Mane and it went out for a goal kick.

Liverpool started bombarding Burnley who were holding on for their dear lives at this point. McNeil brilliantly denied Salah in the 59th minute and not long after, Mane produced a swift turn but it was not enough to get beyond the goalkeeper.

Mane wasted some chances before becoming the hero as he spun another chance in the 64th minute when his weak header from Alexander Arnold's delivery didn't result into a goal. Not to be denied for letting by, Van Dijk's long pass found Elliot who in turn found Arnold. Arnold's cheeky chipped pass found Mane inside the box and he wasted no time in the 69th minute to produce a brilliant half volley that the goalkeeper found at the back of the net, 2-0.

Liverpool should have added a 3rd but for the help of Barnes who cleared the goalmouth scramble. Burnley had few chances of their own to at least reduce the deficit even right to the death where Barnes was denied by Alisson in the 94th minute.

Liverpool won 2-0 and would take no chance so as to banish the horror of their last season's showings. 2 wins out of 2 with the fans back and their defender; Van Dijk back as well, they can be optimistic for the future. The season is still long and it's the best time to gather as much point as you can right now and that's what Liverpool just did by grinding out the result against this Burnley side.

I totally agree with you. They played well and deserved it.

Liverpool is my favorite team in the Premier League and I'm supporting them a lot honestly, I'm really liking how they are squaring up on the pitch and how they are developing too well with each other to play a really great game and win it. The next game will be against Arsenal, I hope they win that one too. Liverpool has surprised me a lot already with 5 goals in two games, they are doing great without a doubt.

They are trying to show better character than last season.
