Belgium football TV rights don’t get sold

Trend in Europe

Except for the English television rights for the Premier League and the lower ranked leagues in England, all the other leagues in Europe are having a hard time selling their TV rights. The bids are lower almost everywhere.

The same is happening in Belgium, while the last four seasons the rights got sold for 105 million euros, the bid was only a mere 90 million euros per year this time. So, the Belgian Pro League decided not to sell them yet. And they are considering starting their own TV broadcasting network. In a hope to get more from the footage…

A very blunt move, which will probably not be appreciated by the top clubs in Belgium. Some of those are considering selling their rights by themselves.

It’s becoming one big shitshow, where football and the common fan will be the loser!

Sincerely,

It is also a business and when matches are played like this, the teams win and the management gets a lot of profit.
